I was once a happy customer at Register Fly .com That company experienced problems and I was sold and bought by GoDaddy.com

Since I have been at GoDaddy.com there has been nothing but problems from day one.

I have lost domains, charges fees for expired domains, domains high jacked by GoDaddy, services added that were not wanted.

GoDaddy escalated by account to a VIP status. Let me explain what this means. Everytime I login I see Justin Finkelsteins name at the top of may page. I never asked for a VIP service. It was just forced upon me without my approval or permission. Justin Finkelstein would manipulate the account to gather fees and services. During his "help" with my VIP account we lost several dozen high traffic domains. When you get a domain that has some value, Godaddy will profile that domain and manipulate their backend to take th edomain from you. I have lost several high end domains because of their servivces.

After compalints about thier VIP service that profiles you more problems have occurred. After paying several thousand dollars and hundreds of dollars in hosting fees my hosting accounts were terminated because they were considered file repositories. I host streaming videos and other media for high end clients like Lions Gate and Sony. The abrupt take down of the hosting terminated those contracts with the two companies causeing several hundreds of thousands of dollars in loss. After a complaint about this I was issued a single hosting credit 5 months later.

I purchased a shopping cart program and other ecommerce services. For two years the service never worked. After numerous complaints phone calls and literaly over a hundred housr of wasted time the shopping cart never worked. We are a government vendor that services The Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. We build IP controlled vehicles, host private streaming applications for large business and we are listed with DUNS, CCR, and other government agencies. Godady said we did not qualify for the shopping cart. This is strange because the United States Government has given us grants and contracts. To get such awards you have to have a clean company. Obviously a government vendor for the country GoDaddy lives and operates in is not qualified to handle $2k worth of credit card purchases a month. (sarcastic)

The final straw has been Domains by Proxy. When ou buy a domain from GoDaddy it automaticaly selects Privacy free for one year. When you go to renew it charges you $8.99 per domain on top of the registration fee. As agovernment vendor it is important that our information is public and easily found. The Domains By Proxy service hids your name and information then it puts thier information in place of yours. A very good service for scammers and other crooks who lurk on the internet. Many scammers use the service.

We have tried for the last 6 months to remove the service. Phone calls, letters, attorney calls have had zero effect. When you go to renew your domain you get charged the $8.99 fee. If you renew 100 domains then you get an addition $899.00 fee tacked on your domain renewal. Domains By Proxy has never sent a login to turn the service off. They will not. After sending in Drivers licenses, business licenses and other documents they now avoid our calls and block our email. We have had over 450 domains expire because we refuse to pay the Domains By Proxy service, that we do not want and can not turn off. GoDaddy has now high jacked the domains and has placed thier splash page on the domains. If we want the domains back they will cost us $80 each plus a registration fee and ofcourse th eprivacy fee has to be paid. That is $96.48 for each domain. Some are higher because they are . TV or other extensions. Our cost will be $43,416.00 to recover all the domains. The actual cost should be $3,370.50 without the Domains By Proxy service. With the Domains by Proxy service you will pay.... $7,416.00.

So you have a level of extortion to choose from. $7,416.00 or $43,416.00 the choice is yours. The point they are trying to drive home is this. Take the Domains By Proxy service or we will take your domains and you will be sorry if you choose the second choice.

For three years I tried to get my default email changed from a free Yahoo account to a paid account that was hosted at GoDaddy. We have logged over 60 hours of phone calls to GoDaddy to get the change made. Only after a call to our lawyer was the change implemented.

Do Anonymous Domain Registration Outfits Actually Work?

About anonymity : Think youre safe if you register your domain name anonymously? Apparently not:

Despite paying Domains by Proxy an additional fee to register foetry.com anonymously, they responded to a letter from a personal injury lawyer, and canceled my registration without notifying me of a complaint. Let that sink in: a personal injury lawyers letter is all it took for DBP to cancel my anonymity. Furthermore, the attorneys ignorance of Internet Law didnt even phase Domains by Proxy. (I have a copy of the attorneys letter and I know more about Internet law than he).

Boise State University Professor Janet Holmes, simply hired the lawyer to write a letter. Thats all. There was no subpeona. No chance of a case against me. Domains by Proxy never emailed me and never telephoned. They simply canceled the anonymity and my confidential information suddenly became available. My initials, my address, and my phone number became freely available to anyone with an internet connection.

Agatha:

Domain By Proxy is extorting me for fees. i never signed up for the service. No I have to pay over double to keep my domain. I still can't remove the privacy. What a scam. I am going back to eNom and never looking back. Theses people suck and they are so rude...:-(
