I will have to agree with Yulia. Godaddy is a unprofessional company and are very dishonest. I am a concept artist working in the video game industry and I recently lost my website as well.
As an entertainment artist my website is extremely important for it is how I showcase my portfolio. I bought a domain through blogger for 10.00$ which was hosted through Godaddy. I signed up to have them bill me yearly for my website. I got my website in late October of 2008 . October 2009 rolls around , I go to my website only to find that it is down. I call Godaddy to ask them what happened. They tell me someone has bought my domain name.
I asked them how come I wasn't informed of my site being down , and they simply explained to me that it wasn't their responsibility, even though I had made arrangements to be automatically billed. Even if I wasn't you would think they would have the common courtesy to send me an email.
So my domain name was www.kalenart.com ( My name is Kalen and I do art . Simple enough)
Turns out within 3 days of the site being down , a random guy named Naruemon Boyce who lives in the UK has bought it. I have tried tracking him down but its like he doesn't exist. Big surprise right. He has nothing to do with art yet this so called person buys my domain name. I know for a fact he is not an artist of any kind. I send him numerous emails, and he never replies.
Godaddy claims they can magically somehow get a hold of him for me but it will cost me about 80 dollars! to negotiate the buy back of my website. I have lost tons of business because of this incident and Godaddy offers no help, unless I pay them 7 times the amount that I paid for the website originally. I finally decide to do some research and find out I am not the only one. This same exact scam has happened to hundreds of other people.
I am not sure how you guys run your business but it is dishonest and shameful. Hundreds of artist graduate from art schools all around the U.S. and it is required to have a website in order to graduate. I tell all graduating artist I know never to use Godaddy! And I will continue to unless their methods change

I just got scammed by advantage america and have had to use a couple days of bank visits and umteen (a-lot) of phone calls to redirect my personal info.I have been recieving a number of phone calls and now I am very very weary of any phone calls i dont recongnize, infact when some of the names come up I google it in or check Ripoff for the name.well I got a call from TM enterprises today and goolgled the name and came up nothing, but ripoff had mdtm enterprises and a few reports of rip-offs.I then googled mdtm and vitamin companys all came up.Several of the companys has mdtm in there speil.I clicked on one and it lead me to godaddy.com.I then read your story, because I am now a crazed consumer who wants to protect myself.I just thought it was interesting how I ended up at godaddy following up from scam calls I have gotten and then to read your problem.I'll stay far away from go daddy.

I have ton's of e-mail's from them as well as recordings of telephone conservations. My 15 year old son thought he was doing "mom" a favor and signed me up using my husbands paypal account. I know part of this was my fault for allowing him access to my info and that is why I did not take it any further than phone calls. An honest company would have offered to refund after I called and explained they had dealt with a MINOR, but not godaddy. They pretty much told me to go blow. I am just getting started in my own business and was not ready to go online. I explained to them I would be happy to use their company when I was ready but my son jumped the gun. I heard everything from "accounting has to make the call on the refund" to plain out rudeness..."go to H**L" Nice customer service. I got taken for hundreds of dollars and would recommend to everyone out there NOT to support a company that steals from children!

Today I received a refund of $150 from GoDaddy.com. Unfortunatelly it is considered as fraud any way as per my legal department. In any case, they never appologized, Ricky is probably still there making fun on other customers. I will let you know when site is done. The taped conversation will be there as well.
