On Dec. 11th Golfsmith had a set of new Cleveland TA-7 irons 3-PW advertised for an amazing $199.97 (these clubs have an MSG of $799.99).  I ordred them provided the shipping and payment information and was provided an order confirmation.  The ship date on the orderer was 12/16.  On 12/17 I checked the status to get the tracking information and the ordere status showed back ordered.  I called the number on the screen to check the lead time for the restock so I would know when to expect them.  At this time I was told the order had been cancelled because they are discontinued.  I was then tranferred to customer service whom confirmed the item was not available.  I questioned how that could be possible when I received an order confrmation when I ordered them and was not informed of any cancellation or availability issues when the prder was placed.  I was told I must have ordered them within a milli-second of another customer and that caused them to be un available for purchase.  To try and make it up I was offered a set of Cleveland CG-7 irons (MSG $699.99) currently on sale for $399.99 but could have them for $339.99.  So basically, I could pay $140.00 more for clubs that are worth $100.00 less.
