Greenovated promised that after rebates and their "marketing rebate", I'd be getting a solar water heater package for a bit under $4000. They almost immediately defaulted on their marketing agreement promise to handle all the first years payments: in the past 10 months they only made two payments, and made those late enough that the account was subjected to significant bank late payment fees. They did not return calls or emails to answer why.

Additionally, the wholesale supplier used by Greenovated / 5 Star Plumbing was never paid for the materials used, even though 5 Star Plumbing was paid in full for the entire joib before work ever began. The wholesaler filed and mechanics lien on my house and threatened to foreclose.

I contacted an attourney specializing fraud cases, after a brief investigation, his judgement was he would have no problem winning a judgement against Greenovated, but that in his opinion the company was entirely insolvent, and was apparently kicked out of one previous business address for non payment of rent.

I did eventually find the address of their current operation, and talked personally with one of the principals, Aaron Blodgett. He gave a rather unbelievable story about for they had trusted an accounatnt enough that they had not monitored whether bills were paid or not, apparently for months on end, and that they had spend all available funds expanding into another city. He promised that the lien would be taken care of immediately, as I requested: that was 5 months ago and Greenovated / 5 Star Plumbing have made no attempt to pay a dime for the materials they used (nor returned any further calls or emails). So now I have to pay for the materials they used a second time to avoid a foreclose ruling on my home.

I've learned one lesson from this: as my attourney said "Never trust any contractor in Arizona unless they have a significant business history and and A-rating at the Better Business Bureau". Note that I had checked Greenoveted at BBB before doing business with 'em, and they were listed as "New with no negative reports". They currently have an "F" rating at BBB, and I was happy to assist in making that happen.

I suspect Greenovated Energy and 5 Star Plubing won't be long for the AZ business world., particularly as the local mainstream media has started taking notice of their "business" practices. As a cautionary tale, I certaintly wouldn't recommend doining business or hiring anyone who had anything to do with this nest of grifters.
