Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have been dealing with this company for 6 years now. I have made some late payments, but always try to let them know and work it out with them. I do not think they document phone calls as I get asked the same questions everytime I have to call.

They want to know how much money I make, what did I spend my last paycheck on, don't you have anyone you can borrow the money from. Yeh, there is another bill I will have to pay back, making me late yet again.

They have told me my house payment comes before feeding my children. They have even gone so far as to accuse me of saying I was not sending in a payment when in fact I said I would have it by the end of the month. They want to know what I do with my child support money, I have not been receiving any child support.

While trying to explain this to the anything but nice woman on the other end of the phone she is yelling at me that maybe she oughta call my children's father and tell him I am behind on my house payments. And maybe he would be better suited to raise our boys because he probably pays his house payments on time. Well, he probably is paying his "rent" on time, he certainly isn't helping me support our boys.

They call my work, after being told not to. They call my mother, claiming they have a really good relationship with her. They call the park office where my home is set up to get messages to me, and have now resorted to calling my neighbor. I have no clue how they even got ahold of her number, but I don't even know her well enough to have even my own mother call in an emergency.

It was a fluke I wound up on this web-site. I am glad I decided to look and see if I was alone out there in dealing with them. It's sad to see that I am not. But I am glad to know it's not just me they are trying to drive into the psych ward.

Good luck to all of you trying to cope with this mess of a company. I hope they can be stopped before even one more of their robotic employees is able to collect another paycheck.

Dear Anonymous' Thanks for info? How many notices does a lender have to send in order to repo? and if your loan was assumed by another party and they default and then they come after you! The problem is we haven't seen or spoken to conceco/greentree sense the other party assumed the loan in 2002, and it showed on our credit as paid as agreed ever sense, but the other party we just found out has abandon the place, and is 5 months behind, well they say my husband is still responable cause conceco did not have him sign a A surrender of property notice when he gave the home up due to cancer. so at the beginning of this month we recieved a surrender of notice that they want him to sign, but have not seen a statement, or have we yet been sent an intent to repo letter? do they have to send repo letters certified? thanks phyllis

Kelli I too an ex-employee. I worked in the office that serviced your account in Carmel. I have probably been by your house as a field rep. To stop this get a cease and desist letter from the internet send it registered mail to the compliance dept of greentree registered mail and wait for them to call get the name of the person and advise them you have sent cease and desist and not to call. if they call back call and talk to compliance dept. which does randomly monitor calls and advise you have had calls after this cease and desist was recieved and you will talk to the Attorney General if need be. Make your payment by the end of the month and they wont do anything to you. Who is collector calling you?

I'm an ex-employee of Greentree (aka Conseco Finance). I worked in the back-end collections dept. This means I dealt with the most delinquent debt (30-60 days past due). New employees were told, by the training dept, to use ALMOST any tactic to locate debtors. This includes: skip-tracing, using the internet, calling people at home, work, friends, relatives, & even neighbors. I once called a debtor's cell phone while he sat in court! I even used a debtor's relatives for info, & found the debtor in the county jail! The simple fact is this: Greentree tells it's collections staff to follow FDCPA guidelines. However, bill collectors who follow FDCPA rules do not make their monthly collections quota. When your quota isn't met, eventually you get fired. A nice bill collector doesn't eat or pay his bills. I'm the nicest person you'll ever meet..but when I arrived at work, I was there to do a job. If I collected on several delinquent debts by the use of rudeness, or questionable methods...Greentree management looked the other way!!! I can tell story after story that would astound any consumer. Most people employed at Greentree are hard working, very nice people. They are just doing their job. If you want the upper hand against a bill collector research FDCPA laws. FDCPA governs what a bill collector can or cannot do. Bill collectors CANNOT call you after 9 p.m. They also can't call you if you've told them not to. Anonymous, Rapid City, SD
