I worked for Harrahs tahoe casino for 18 months as an EMT in the security dept.

I am no longer hire-able at any Harrahs gaming establishments.

I had more company adda-boys racked up in 18 mos than people who had been their for ten years.

What happened?

When I put in my notice I had to rout out as the say. Personel dept wanted to know why? A good employee leaving suddenly?

I told them that if you piss off the ssuper visor you found your self on the s**t end of the schedule.

I know, so what? I also said that federal gaming laws were only enforced on certain customers.

Like who? If you were well dressed and spending a lot of money and were found pressing a bet"cheating" you were asked to leave the floor for the night.

Illegal immegrants were working for the company, no one cared.

Cheap labor.

If you pissed off your supervisor you were suddenly cought stealing and formerly 86ed." tresspass notice along with your photo taken".But never formerly arrested.Odd thing.

86ings are tools to be used against canned employees but rarely ever followed up on when a non employee was 86ed.

I also told personel I was tired of arressting local juveniles in the arcade.

Who now have a juvenile criminal record for doing nothing.

Yes thats right nothing.

So parents who are reading this page; if your kid was busted at Harrahs Tahoe in the arcade and they said they wern't doing anything?

There is a good 60%chance they weren't.

Many times I would go back down to the arcade to see why the arcade manager wanted thie kid arressted.

"Just making an example" was the answer.

Most kids were Philipinno or mexican.

Up on the gaming floor if they were cought gambling they weren't even arressted,just escorted out.

I was litteraly told in breifing that those kids we want to come back when they are 21.

I am so glad i found this page.

I have all kinds of companies to turn in.

I am a long time player at Harrah's Tahoe and Reno. I have a friend whose personal business spread to his company and friends by a security manager. Don't tell an old man who knows Harrah's crappy self serving game that Harrah's is all good!!!! My association and working with Harrah's goes back to 1967...boys and the days of Bill are gone. Its now corporate "Screw the employees and cheat the players" Harrah's new motto

In defense of Harrah's Casino's everywhere.....

I currently am employeed with Harrah's Casino in Illinois. I felt compelled to come into the forum and actually stand up for my employer. Since day one, I have been treated with respect there, treated in such a manner that anyone should be happy about working there. I understand that there are negatives to any job, but I can assure you, I have had some jobs in the past that were truly bad. Jobs where your employer could care less if you disappeared off the map, and certainly didn't care if you did the workload of 3 people. Harrah's IS NOT that way. I work in a branch of the marketing department and I actually have 4 supervisors, one dual rate, and one manager, (besides the managers upstairs) and all of them I have a relationship with on a professional and personal level. They ask me nearly on a daily basis, "How's your children doing", "How's your mom and dad", and they legitimately care. I have had many issues that have came up over the course of my career there....needed time off, schedule corrections, etc. all to accomodate my family's hectic life, and never once did ANYONE act for one minute like it was a probably. In nearly every instance, they rearranged and did what they had to do to help me. I have never worked for, seen or heard of another company that offers SO many rewards, benefits, promotions, and motivational type products for it's employees. If you are willing to keep your nose to the grind, do a good job and learn as much as possible with Harrah's, there is no where for you to go but right straight up with that company. There are many, many companies that you could say are not good companies at all to work for, and probably that many more that you could say have unethical practices. I'm afraid that Harrah's simply isn't one of them. Check out our HERO board (community service teams and hours)...check out their meals on wheels programs...how about being the first casino gambling company to implement programs to STOP underage gambling, and offer assistance to those with problem gambling and addictions. How about the limitless things that Harrah's has done for my PERSONAL hometown..clean up efforts, renovations...most recently, helping sand bag homes in town that were right in the path of recent flooding. WE DID NOT HAVE TO DO THAT...WE (HARRAH'S AND ITS EMPLOYEES) WANTED TO. Sometimes things don't work out the way we had hoped, and possibly that was the case for you, I don't know. What I do know is, Harrah's is a WONDERFUL company to work for. Maybe you just weren't meant to be part of that team. I wish you great luck in your future endeavors, however, and I'm sorry Harrah's didn't work for you, but falsehoods are falsehoods. Harrah's isn't the "hell whole" that you make it out to be....not even by a long shot.

Ed, I have worked in the Arcade at Harrah's Tahoe and now Harvey's for a total of 4 years I am currently a Lead in the Arcade, that is I am one of the people who run the shift, I am just below the supervisor in rank. I know the supervisor quite well and I know why and when he throws people out or has Them arrested. As far as I know we have only had maybe about 3 or 4 total juveniles arrested. They were only arrested for one of four things; grand theft, major vandalism, fighting, or returning after an official 86. An official 86 is a warning that you are not allowed back on our property. If you are found on our property again we are within our legal right to have you arrested for trespass. Ed did not make this clear. We have had security 86' several youngsters for petty theft, petty vandalism, fighting, and ignoring our polite warnings about loitering. Yes the nothing the kids were thrown out for is loitering. It is posted in both arcades at both entrances that loitering is not accepted. Usually a youth that is loitering is also causing other forms of trouble as well. Mostly when a youth is bored and loitering in the arcade they start to vandalize games, lie about machines being broken to get free games, and even try to steal coins, tickets etc. just to have something to do. So therefore our no loitering rule is valid rule that we do enforce. When we do we give them a polite first warning, then we ask them to leave if they do not listen. After that if they keep coming back and keep ignoring our warnings then we call security to 86 them. As for the I also told personal I was tired of arresting local juveniles in the arcade. Who now have a juvenile criminal record for doing nothing. Juvenile criminal record? I think not, Security detains people for questioning or they may even 86' or escort a guest off property, they arrest in this manner. They do not book the offending person. That never goes on their record unless an on duty sheriff arrests them and they are booked and have a court date. And the arrest does not go on their record if they are found not guilty. You see everyone who is arrested goes to court and gets a fair trial, and if they were arrested For Nothing then a judge will clear them. As for the Arcade Manager that position does not exist. We have no Manager we are under the slot department. Our supervisor would not have a kid arrested just to be an example or for racial reasons. As for the accusation that most kids were Filipino or Mexican, this is probably true, though I have had a lot of Caucasian kids that I have had removed as well. You see the Lake Tahoe population has been nearing about 45-50 percent Hispanic and there is a very large percentage of Filipino's residing here as well. Large portions of the Filipinos do reside within a 4-5-block radius of the Casinos, and that explains why the apparent majority of local kids in the Arcades are Filipino or Mexican. Quite simply the percentages of kid's in the arcade from each people group are a fairly good representation of South Shore's population. We also have a Filipino lead that has had people removed. In the last few months I have removed quite a few of Caucasian troublemakers and undesirables, then I have any other race. Most of the time it is for vandalizing games. So if any parent reads this they know there kid was Busted not for Nothing but for causing trouble and choosing simply not to follow the rules as posted, or common sense. As in, you are not allowed to kick a game because you lose. As far as the percentage of people 86 or otherwise for Nothing that is less then one percent. I cannot comment about the rest of Mr. Ed's accusations. All I do have to say is he does seem eager to attack many people, as shown with his comment I am so glad I found this page. I have all kinds of companies to turn in I have found that people that have problems with most people are usually the ones causing most of their trouble. They simply refuse to accept the consequences of their actions. I say this because it does take a lot to have you rehire status revoked from all Harrah's properties.

I worked with you and hated every moment of it. I liked Ed and many others did as well. You, on the other hand were a different story. I remember Darrell the Accounting Manager used to tell me stories about you at lunch about your poor attitude and reputation as a whiner. Sounds like you are calling the kettle black, David.

ED have you ever worked anywhere and were satisfied? What havnt you done for employment? I know who you are now ED. I was there when Lynn Archer from Swift in Sparks hired you. I remember her saying "I bet I'm going to be sorry for hiring that one". Sure enough all you did was belly ache and cry the short time you were there. You have to be the most worthless employee I have ever witnessed. I'm thinking you should move from Lake Tahoe and resettle in Tupper Lake, NY. You would fit in nicely. Harrahs of course would have dumped your lazy a*s in a heartbeat. My father retired from Harrahs Tahoe. Your correct in saying they 86 non profitable quests and employees. They are called TVU's in the gaming industry. TRANSIENT VAGRANT UNDESIRABLES Why wouldnt they give them and you the boot? Like you been told a million times ED "theres no free lunch" Get a job and hey try something unexpected and actullay do your job for a change.
