While I don't know specifics on your setup, most if not all printers nowadays are going to usb connection (and are eliminating SERIAL PORT connections - which is what the genius above is referring to). What you may want to check is does the printer's setup disk call for WinXP or Win2K - if so then you are trying to set up a printer meant for an NTFS file system on a NON-NTFS files system. Also does the printer instructions specify usb 1.1 or 2.0 - older usb ports are 1.1 and have a lower transfer speed than the later. This doesn't cause problems with most hardware but it IS possible. Also, check in your system info on your pc to verify that the printer drive you have is SIGNED (and compatible with your operating system). The only thing I do agree with is that WinME was terrible - If you can afford to wipe it off your hard drive and put on Win2K or WinXP as soo as you can. I hope this helps.

windows ME os *SUCKS* THATS WHY.. MAYBE YOU HAVE A FUALTY/BAD CABLE DID THAT EVER CROSS YOUR MIND? OR THE USB PORT ON YOUR PC IS BAD,BUT I HHAVE YET TO SEE A PRINTER RUN THRU USB? I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE PRINTERS USED A PRINTER CABLE? I KNOW MY PRINTER WILL NOT WORK OR USE A USB CABLE,IT NEEDA FAT PRINTER CABLE..... SO MAYBE THE *USER* IS AT FUALT....
