Hillsdale College, motto "Pursuing Truth-Definding Liberty since 1844", send me a letter asking me to donate to their 2014 campaign to raise funds for the college. In the letter they say "Or you might have seen that Forbes magazine ranks Hillsdale the 60th best college in America, the 7th best college in the Midwest, and the #1 college in Michigan". I checked the Forbes rankings for 2013 and it was #196 overall, #140 in private colleges and #33 in the Midwest. University of Michigan was #30 and Michigan State was #154.

That Forbes ranking information is from 2012 (or perhaps 2011). Either you were sent an old letter, or Hillsdale College has not yet ackowledged the new rankings, which came out in July/August -- probably well after Hillsdale printed this year's letters.
