Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Man these people are a work of art.  Make it seem like its a good thing but it really isn't.  Put a large payment down they tell me that the amout was added to the care loan not taken of the total purchase price.  Where do they do that at?  So i basically give you my down payment for you to allow me to get the car.  Then top of that they E sign you signature on the loan document themselves. My name wasn't even right on the documents.  I was late on a payment owed the $225 now the cost is $1735 to get my car back.

Why get it back to let them screw me some more.  They gave me a hard time getting my things out of the car and I was out of town when they took it.  My luggage and clothes were in the trunk.  Beth a rude and uncaring person tells me who they hired to repro the car would call me.  Telling me they really don't have to she says. After calling and emailing no one seemed to care that I was out of town.  Her smart butt going to tell me I should have took the car out of town.  Really??

The insurance company through them messed me up with a job because they have me a pending cancellation in the system even after my payment telling me that Holmes Motors don't check the status of payments like they should.  So I lost out on money because the company I was trying to work for the back ground check came back that my driving history was in volation for insurance.   On top of all that they don't explain nothing to you at all told me I had an extension warranty for this 2015 car and while I driving my tire press was readings going up and down.  I called them about it and they say oh we all cover drive train take it to the Chevy dealer.  I took it to a dealer there was a hole in the tire,  the hood of the car was off track, was a rental car, and I was told the car had body molding.  The car was a rental car and I asked them was the car from a car rental they said NO... liars!!!

On the window is has a sticker no smoking and please have the car clean or you can be charged cleaning fee.  NO car off no lots says that except the rental cars.  When they sale their cars they at least take the sticker off it.  On top of all that before I purchased the car I asked my car saleman how much would I have to pay for everything to purchase the car all he said was the downpayment. So why is it that fee are no my paperwork but I had to come out off pocket for taxes, title, and fees??? I had no more money at that point and when I told them I was unable to purchase that could and tried to back out the deal they wouldn't give me my money back and it was the next day less than 24 hours.

So I had to wait until my next check on top of that had to make my first payment.  They don't even give you at least a week off from forking up all the money to put down on the car.  Most car lots give you up to a month off.  Not these greedy money hungry rip off's. Not really worth paying the bi-weekly thing anyway you pay more money.  If there is an extra week in the month that is 3 payments.  I wish I used my $3000 to buy a car off the lots.  I am out of my money and a car and even a job now.   And not mention you are going to call you lawyer they turn on you.  It is crazy how people can do wrong to you but come at you try to stand up for yourself.   They got over on me big time lost a job and now I have to deal with them to get my things.  Dont buy a car from them if you don't have to.  Really!

Thank you

Agree with the prior poster + the time to negotiate is prior to signing the contract

The prior poster has some excellent advice.  Here are a few more pointers for you:

  • Learn about auto purchasing and financing before you ever attempt it again
  • You must read the contract before you sign it. Once you sign it, you have agreed to the terms and conditions of the sale.  Do not allow the seller/dealership to bully you into signing a contract that you can't read in full. If it is electronic and you can't see the entire document, have them print it so you can see it. If they balk at the idea of printing the contract, that is your clue to get up and walk away from the deal.
  • Get your financing from an outside source - your bank or credit union - before you shop for a vehicle.
  • Do not fall for the dealerships' "free" items, whatever they may be, as they aren't free and usually require you to finance through the dealership.
  • Have a third party inspect the vehicle. A mechanic you know and trust that is not affliated with the seller.

There is more but you will know what to do next time after you spend the time learning about vehicle purchasing. Remember the dealership invests thousands of dollars in their sales reps and F&I guys to trick consumers into paying more. Don't fall for it.

Why no Inspection FIRST before buying?

STRIKE ONE "I was late on a payment owed the $225 now the cost is $1735 to get my car back. " <<<  YES, you BROKE the contract, so of course they do not trust youy..why are you surprized?

STRIKE TWO "The insurance company through them messed me up"...

There is an old saying "Marry in haste, repent at leisure"...meaning you were desperate to purchase quickly, had  to use their insurance service too (why?) , and didn't wait long enough to get the car inspected OFF THEIR LOT, at your mechanic.

You have the right to do this in every state in the USA I understand... but if you don't have the $50-100 to do that, to be CERTAIN it was not a rental, or had problems, engine issues, tire holes,  then you did not have enough money to support the loan for buying the car either.

"On top of all that before I purchased the car I asked my car saleman how much would I have to pay for everything to purchase the car all he said was the downpayment....I had to come out off pocket for taxes, title, and fees???"  <<< the PAPERWORK sales contract  SHOWS these costs, eveyone pays them..out of their OWN procket, yes.

Maybe he misunderstood you...to DRIVE OFF all you pay is the downpayment, you knew that, right?

".....On the window it has a sticker no smoking and please have the car clean or you can be charged cleaning fee.  NO car off no lots says that except the rental cars. "   You didn't see this BEFORE???? Why not?

Apparently there is no law that says they have to tell you the truth..no matter how many times you ask.  << They ALL LIE, or mislead as much as they can get away with, or say "they misunderstood."

YOU need to be smarter than them!!

Another clue is checking the VIN or using  CARFAX, ( can cost $40. of pay more for unlimted checking for 30 days) which tells the point of creation ( where in USA, or Canada, if imported, etc) , where it went first...what dealer or rental company bought it, what was done to it for maintenance, problems, how many times it changed hands, or was cared for, problems, e]calls...all of that is avaialbe if youy slow down a bit, and pay a small fee... eally cheap insurance it is, to first LEARN about that car.  ALL along the way the mileage is reported.

It would have been cheaper to rent a clunker, or use the bus or a taxi,  to get to work, while you did your homework.

If they used a wrong signature..where did it come from? why didn't you LOOK at the paperwork?  again SLOW DOWN.

Most buiyers spend 90 days researching, and shopping, ans asking friends and family, looking up information on cars, looking for BAD reviews of a dealersship BEFORE buying.

You learned a lesson, maybe, and taught others too..that is your GIFT to the world.
