Took out an auto loan with Household Finance/Household Automotive because I was considered high credit risk. Was charged l4.5% interest for 5 yrs. I have been paying $385.00 a month for 3 years on the original loan of $l8,000., and I still owe over $11,000.00.

Called Household and they told me there is high interest charges daily when I am late, which I have been, but this is ridiculous. I now cannot sell this car for more than $6,000.00 and owe $ll,000.00.

I have been paying, I should have gotten much more credit.

I know there is a lawsuit going or something class action with Household/Beneficial, how do I get involved? I am not a rich person and feel I have been shafted.

Thanks

They gave me an extension allright, and then sent me a bill which showed that I owed 2 or 3 payments and was behind

I got an extension several months back with Household because I was waiting on a commission check. They gave me an extension allright, and then sent me a bill which showed that I owed 2 or 3 payments and was behind. I then sent a check, which I thought was in error so stopped payment. Then I get another bill etc. etc.. and charges, charges, charges. 1. Extension are supposed to help, why add charges to that? 2. Why then get a bill that says you are past due, and when you cann no one seems to know anything, or switches you to another department or puts you on hold, or just tells you to pay what the bill says. 3. I then was told I was 3 payments behind and with charges etc.. the total due would be $1,159.00 to catch up. I paid this, and then was told that in February I would get back to making regular payments. Well, guess what, my bill in February shows a short amt. (?) of $190.00. Oh man, this company is incredible, there is no catching up. As far as I see it I owe $383.15 for my current payment due on February l3, 2004 and that's it. I refuse to pay this additional $190.80.

Why Is It HFC's Fault?

#3Consumer Suggestion

Sat, May 03, 2003

Mary, lets try to resolve and understand this issue for the future...you went to HFC because you are a higher credit risk due to your low credit score. Because the lender (HFC) is taking a greater chance on you because your credit reputation is not perfect, then they are extending credit at a higher price. Its not the lender's fault, its your credit reputation. HFC is doing you a favor, giving you a second chance and you even admitted you've been late to them. Why? Why not WORK to improve your credit score by making payments on time? Secondly, you've made all these payments and still owe so much. You are UPSIDE DOWN in the deal. You owe more than the car is worth. This is caused by YOUR CHOICE to buy a car you probably can't afford, buying it with little or no down payment and by thinking the car costs "so much per month" which is pure garbage! Forget about class action suits. Make those payments on time everytime and then the next time you can be a PRIME candidate for bank financing rather than SUB-PRIME! More importantly, when that day comes you'll be able to look in the mirror and see a disciplined adult woman of financial quality rather than a little child looking to weasel out of a responsibility. I'm not trying to be nasty to you Mary, I'm trying to wake you up! Good luck!
