When using e-harmony, they charge you for additional ridiculous services without your knowledge. In this case it's the message acknowledgement for 8.99
There's a checkbox that this dating site asks you to check and by doing so you will know when the reader reads it. That's fine. The issue is they don't tell you there's a charge or even a confirmation that you want this. They just send the message and you get an email saying you purchased something for 8.99
You can't just have people check a checkbox, click send and charge them immediately. Even without the confirmation, if they put in parenthesis (this cost 8.99) or anything like that, that would still be fair (shady, but fair). In this case there was nothing.
It's shocking an established company would pull this hacker "black hat" scam that porn sites and other illegal or shady sites use.
Worst dating site ever. They have users, but their business practices are pretty bad. I also have the screen shots of this scam. e-harmony definitely should address this scam. For an established dating site, they are definitely the worst.
