 we bought over 1500.00 worth of blinds 5 years ago partially on the "fantastic lifetime warrenty" we were told about.  if anything happened to them they would be repaired at no cost to us.  we had one issue and that happened but now they "changed their policy" and they charge for one way shipping of about 28.00 fed exp and a 45.00 service charge.  This has got to be fraudulant or miss leading at the least.  the blind itself was abpit 275.00 and at 73.00 per issue every 5 years (it is a cordless blind that one of the cords broke and needs to be fixed as it won't retract at all).  i tried to find a corporate e-mail to file a complaint but they just keep looping and i never do get an e-mail chance to complain.  I will never buy another Hunter Douglas blind again.  you can't trust them.

I am an independant Gallery Dealer that sells Hunter Douglas shades.

You purchased your shades from a HD retailer.  I assume it was your salesperson who may have told you the wrong information.  Your Lifetime Warranty covers replacement parts and the labor to fix it.  Take down/reinstall, shipping/handling are not covered and never have been.  When you consider the cost of replacing your shades, a warranty repair is still a much less expensive option.  I am certain of this because I arrange warranty repairs routinely for my neighborhood HD consumers.  Perhaps you placed too much trust in the verbal and misleading warranty offered by your salesperson. HD's fault?  Regardless, all things mechanical will fail and you can trust that HD will cover the cost of parts/labor to repair your shade.  Ask your retailer if they will cover your cost for shipping/handling.  They just might, as you were their customer., whom they misled.

In fairness to independant dealers who depend on HD sales to survive, I suggest that you back up your claim by posting your warranty details from the manufacturer and the dealer.  I would like to see how "they changed their warranty". Otherwise, your complaint lacks credibility.

I think you will quickly find that your salesperson misled you, not Hunter Douglas.

well if that is the case, you have much bigger problems as you have your company representatives outright miscommunicating your warrantee and possibly your products.  How do you expect us as consumers to trust anyone that is connected to Hunter Douglas.  I and several others will not purchase any more from you. (i need to update over half of my house yet and my son just built a new home and needs window coverings, i suggested you to him but i told him about you and now he is so glad he hasn't purchased anything yet).  it is going to be over 70.00 just to get my "lifetime free repair" item repaired.  

This information is coming from one of your "preferred Hunter Douglas Dealers" and they conveyed this is new this year.  It does not promote trust in your company and you would think the dealer would know you have not had this type of warrentee since 1986, i know they have not worked for the company that long so I don't know where they would have come up with it on their own.  The shipping is bad enough but the service fee on top of it is just a slap in the face.     Buyer be ware, even name brand companies hide behind fine print and deceipt.

Hunter Dougla is sorry to hear of your disappointment with the warranty. The current version of the Hunter Douglas Lifetime Limited Warranty (revised in 2007) can be found here: hunterdouglas.com/warranty

 

Our warranty does exclude "Shipping charges, cost of removal and reinstallation" and has since 1986. Perhaps your dealer communicated a different set of expectations or offered an additional warranty outside the manufactures warranty?
