The next day after the purchase of a new Hyundai Sante FE, we looked at the contract. First they did not tell us what they were giving us on our trade....which was less then what we owed. That was a whole separate issue. My main complaint was they did not ask if we wanted the gap insurance and just added the $750 in the contract. I contacted State Farm insurance and they told me if we finance through them (same rate) the gap would be included. We called the dealership and they finally agreed to cancel the gap but would not let us choose our own finance company. They dealer put the loan though Desert Schools, so we called Desert Schools but they did not have any record of the loan. At first Desert Schools said the dealer could cancel the loan. Though after Desert Schools called the dealership, we were told the dealership would not cancel the loan. This now meant we would have to wait to receive something from Desert Schools, and that the gap would still be in the financing. So even if we were to refinance, we would have to get a loan that included the added $750 for gap, which meant a high payment, and then later get a refund of the $750. later. My question is does a dealer have the right to force you into their financing?

Wish I would looked at your site first....we were charged $369.75 doc fee and $196.75 vechicle theft registration (optional) which we should of questioned since we charged the above fee.

Thank You for your time!

Bought a tundra from cavender toyota in april. To get all the rebates and incentives went through the dealer for finance. The salesman was fine. The F&I guy was a scumbag. It was like that Austin Powers movie. You had to ask him three times to get an honest answer. HIS figures didn't match the agreed upon sales figures. I've been in business for 24+ years, my wife's been in banking for 30+ years so we just didn't fall off the turnip truck. I asked him three times before he finally told us HIS price quote INCLUDED GAP insurance. He just took it upon himself to add it in. IF we had wanted GAP insurance, he probably would have added on top of the price he was quoting. GAP insurance was an extra $575. Anyway TWO WEEKS LATER, I refinance the truck at TWO percent LESS AND cancel the GAP insurance, saving myself an extra $6,400. Who cares what they think? Go ahead and refinance and cancel the GAP insurance and all the other useless crap they added on to your price.
