My employer (the U.S. Federal Courts) held a health fair this week. Most of the vendors at the health fair were truly health-related - eye doctors doing vision screenings, breast cancer awareness reps, acupuncture reps, massage therapists, blood pressure screenings, etc.

But one of the tables was a vacation company called Imperial Majesty vacations. They were having a raffle for a free 8-day Bahamas vacation. My colleage and I each filled out an entry.

Later the same day, I got a call from Imperial Majesty Vacations saying that I had won the 8-day "Bahamas" vacation. They proceeded to tell me all about what the vacation included, which was something like 4 nights in Orlando, a 2-day cruise to Paradise Island, and 3-nights in Ft. Lauderdale. (some "Bahamas" vacation!)

The woman on the phone told me that I just needed to give them a $299 deposit for me to "secure" my free vacation. She said then they would send me my travel vouchers in the mail, and then we could take the vacation anytime in the next 18 months.

I asked her why I had to give the $299 deposit right away, and she told me some story about how otherwise they could not guarantee my vacation. I told them that I did not want to give her my credit card information over the phone until they sent me something in writing. She assured me that it was safe and secure, and that all phone calls were tape recorded for security. But she still couldn't explain to me why they needed the $299 deposit right away.

So I told her that I didn't want the vacation and to give it to someone else because there was no way I was going to give her my credit card number over the phone. I am certain that it was a scam and that I would never see any travel vouchers at all. I told my employer about it and they said that they are going to investigate it.

They truly have some nerve coming into a U.S. courthouse and trying to scam court employees.

They call EVERY DAY

Recently we started receiving daily telephone calls from this company stating that we have won a two day free cruise. If you answer the phone the computer hangs up. If you let it go to voice mail they leave us a message a voice yelling that we have won a free cruise. After two weeks I finally called them back. The first person I spoke to I advised him of the problem and he stated "why did you sign up for a cruise". I told him that we never signed up. I the told him to have his company stop calling every day. He then hung the phone up. I called back and spoke to another employee and explained the problem. She wanted to argue, however, she finally decided that they had the wrong phone number listed and guaranteed the harassing telephone calls would stop. Well they did not stop. I did some research and found their real telephone number and again called and this time demanded they stop calling. They again said they would. Further investigation revealed that this company blanket calls people in hope that some one stupid enough will call them back. By making the person call back they skirt around the law. I also contacted Imperial Cruises (who they claim they work for) Imperial cruises was adamant that they have no connection with this company. Buyer be aware JWF Marietta GA

Why you had to pay for the vacation right away

If you had actually read the terms and conditions on the form you had put your personal information on, you'd have seen that a) It was a discounted vacation offer and b) you have to secure your package upon first notification. We don't chase people to take vacations. We don't shell out money to send out information then sit on the edge of our seats *waiting* for someone to be interested. You filled out the form, therefore you are interested and are taking the vacation. It's as simple as that. We assume everyone who had filled out the form is fully aware of the terms and conditions, and if they don't want to do it right away, no problem. We don't care. We'll just let someone else save a lot of money on their next vacation.

Hi there! Imperial Majesty Cruise Line is a partner of Ramada Plaza Resorts Vacations (RPR). RPR has numerous complaints filed against it on this very website. Do a search here for RPR and you will see how lucky you are to have denied this "free" cruise. The vacation they are hocking will cost you at least $698 per person. With upgrades you will pay over $1000! You will NEVER get a refund if you have to cancel the trip for any reason. Death of a family member means nothing to these idiots. They'll try and swinlde more money out of you to "extend" thier offer. Also, this is a trap to get you to go and listen to a time share presentation. Basically, you will arrive in either Ft. Lauderdale or Orlando, check into a hotel that is NOTHING like their agents describe, and then have to attend a time share presentation the next day. If you do not attend, guess what? You don't get your vouchers for the cruise! I have been on this so called "vacation" and it did not live up to expectations at all. The hotel over booked and we were sent to a smelly hotel with dirty rooms, our rental car was not there for us, the cruise ship was a joke, and you must pay all taxes and fees on the rooms, rental car, and cruise. The pool on the ship was about 10'x10' and filled with ocean water. The food was lousy, and the queen size bed we upgraded to was about the size of a super single. Luckily, we received the trip as a gift, so we did not have to attend any of the time share presentations, or be out any of our own money. You should be very glad that you did not take the bait on this one.
