Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I purchased a brand new boat from them and paid in full in January of 2016. On February 18th, 2016, I picked up the boat but it was not what was described. The boat I received had 26 hours on it, it had damages on many parts including the door hinges, audio remotes, and many many other issues.

I brought these to their attention but they minimized my concerns and promised to rectify it. They barely addressed half of the items and when I went to pick up the boat, I asked Jeff, in service, to walk out to review the punch list with me and he said thats not his job. I eventually convinced him to come out to review the job and when I showec him items were not done, he became irate with me and told me I was wasting his time then purposefully shoved himself right through me.

I brought this incident to the owner, Patrick Galipeau, who promised this is not typical of their dealerhisp and promised to have everything corrected in 30 days or he would buy the boat back without a loss to me.

30 days went by and the problems persisted along with new problems coming up. Water would leak excessively from the lights in the hard top and they would just caulk the lights instead of uncover where the water was coming from. After my 3rd visit for the same issue, along with my pushing them to uncover it with an ultimatum of bringing this to a lawyer, they finally uncovered damage to the hardtop which needed to be repaired. Each visit to their store was 1 1/2 hours each way, I had to go 4 times for the same issue until they finally remedied it. The same issue happened with rust coming from the rear cleats. 3 visits until they finally repaired it. The same issue happened with the spot light, it went back 3-4 times before it was finally corrected.

All of these visits, they acted as though it was a favor to me but had they given me a NEW boat like what I paid for, none of this would have happened.

During my 6-8 months of dealing with them, they have shifted employees around to various titles, each one worse than the next. The only saving grace to this company is their service manager, Brian.

Light failures, audio remote controls damaged, hinges on the door broken, damage to the seats upon initial receipt of the boat, rust coming from the rear cleats upon initial receipt and each subsiquent visit, speakers not working, spot light out multiple times, and many many more.

In the end, their attitude is to sell every boat possible. If someone has a problem, they treat them like garbage. If they dont have problems, they treat them extremely well.

"Did not meet my level of expectation" is a severe understatement. The rest of your reply just waters down all of the issues, the same way you watered down each of the issues brought to you.

You did not personally take a call from me about the cleats but you did personally agree to purchase back the boat if the problems were not remedied within 30 days. When 30 days passed, you failed to keep your promise.

The water leak was persistent, I told your team exactly what to look at but they failed to do so 3 different times. That's 3 times I had to drive the boat 1 and 1/2 hours away. That's 3 times that your staff neglected the issue. That's 3 times that I was promised it was fixed but I had to drive 1 and 1/2 hrs back home just to learn the problem continued. Not to mention one of those times, your rep cowardly tried to assault me because he felt offended that I asked him why the issue wasn't addressed.

That was the same with the LED lights, the cleats, the door hinge, and everything else on the punch list.

You also failed to address the fact that you sold me a new boat but when I received it, it had 25 hours on it, and the GPS trail showed the boat was taken from your place to the WPB boat show then to the Ft Lauderdale boat show.

Your company treats its customers well when no issues exist but ignore the customers who have purchased boats with issues.

I'm sure your response is going to be the same watering down and spinning of each point but you'll fail to address the real issues and fail to compensate me for the loss in value or the loss of time, gas, parts, and inability to use the boat on many many weekends. Reply what you want but your customers should know how bad you, your company, your employees, and specifically Jeff in service, really are.

Mr. Isaac Cohen,

We are terribly sorry to hear that your experience at InterMarine did not meet your level of expectation.  The staff and I are dedicated to after sales service and making your boat experience enjoyable for you and your family.

I would like to point out that I personally took calls from you on different occasions, after hours, sometimes at the dinner table with my family, to discuss items with you such as rust on the cleats, spot light and various items irrelevant to the operation and enjoyment of your boat.   We agreed that the cleats being on the swim platform demand  more maintenance.  They do not rust but instead are rust stained and as explained to you, with products available at Home Depot, Amazon, etc.  they can be easily cleaned.  This is part of normal boat maintenance and responsibilities as being a boat owner

All the other items are indeed warranty and I am sorry that we couldn’t fix them in a timely manner to meet your expectations.  Items such as water leak from the hard top, spot light, LED lights no being  in synch are all parts covered under manufacturer’s warranty which is being handled through the dealership and we do take it very seriously. With that said, buying a new boat sometimes comes with these kinds of challenges and with items that are defective, malfunctioning or not operating to your expectations.  It’s part of the process of owning a new boat of that size and I am sure that is part of the reason why you decided to purchase a boat under warranty.  I hope all of this is not going to prevent you from being an avid boater and that the next dealership you do business with can meet your level of expectations.

P.S. On a good note, the family that now owns your boat are enjoying themselves on the water and I hope one day you will find the boat that will provide you with the same contentment.  Best of luck to you Mr. Cohen.

Patrick Galipeau, vice-president
