I understand your panic, but I believe some of your facts are inaccurate. I live in Ridgecrest, CA. I know the summers here, they can be, well, they can be harsh, but remember next time you enter a desert to bring extra water for both you and your dog. It's basic emergency supplies to keep in your vehicle, more so out here in the desert. Two, if you ended up in Inyokern, and it was the last town you visited, and used the towing you did (trust me, my family has too), then you aren't fifty miles from anywhere. You are, dear sir, are just 5 miles from either city, at most, since Inyokern is ten miles from Ridgecrest. Three, you sound slightly entitled. That might have thrown the owners off, even if your intentions were well and good. I have my own animals and want to keep them safe, but I also know that, being a small town and a smaller town, we can have long waiting times for services, and if we got stuck waiting for towing and had out cats, we'd make sure to get them water. A half hour tow isn't an issue if you just sit in the vehicle and drink a little water until it gets there, or bring a book to read. Four, Pearson itself has a wonderful green yard, and those are wonderful dogs. Things just tend to dry up here, in the dead of heat, and won't be the only business with a brown yard. Unless you have astroturf. We usually xeroscape out here, or keep watering minimal, unlike those plentiful supplies towards your home location.
