888-271-5362 Radio scam to been seen by over 100 agents and managers. They are running this phone number all over the US, misleading children and parents by luring them to auditions in hotels promising fame and fortune. Only to find out that you have to spend $$$ thousands of dollars to attend IPOP aka International Presentation of Performers. This SCAM is run by the same scam that runs JRP aka John Robert Powers. I recently attended one of their auditions. While there is a ridiculous amount of evidence that you are getting ripped off by these people, they also clearly state during orientation that you are not guaranteed a job at Disney, Nickelodeon, or other businesses.
This is a business that runs a convention in which agents do actually attend. The convention does exist and happens on an annual basis in Los Angeles.
The problem that people have with this is that if you're paying $2,000+ to get a spot in the convention, some think that you're *entitled* to become an actor. WRONG.
This is just an opportunity, much like American Idol. And I'm pretty sure people think American Idol is a scam, too. It's still in existence. It's been going on for 10 seasons now.
So, while it's not fair that you have to pay to get in, you also have to pay MUCH MORE to get into acting school and pass the courses there. Here, you just show your stuff and *hopefully* you get noticed by execs attending the event.
This is my view.
