So I had a choice after High School at the age of 17 to either go to the Air Force to become a pilot or go to ITT and well...yea. I thought military recruiters were bad, but the ITT recruiters are on you like white on rice. I graduated High School on a Thursday, by the following Monday and a $100 later, I was at a ITT orientation class and began school shortly there after. The entrance exam is a joke. I spent $100 on a test that I absolutely know I failed 90% of it! and I still passed! They would not let me see the results, I asked repeatedly, "Can I see how I did on my test?" and they would say, "Sure, but lets take a tour of the campus and visit with some of the professors"

Well, by that time it was obvious. The recruiter would be your best friend until he got you in. By that time you would try to say hello during break times and he wouldn't even remember who you were. Whatever.

Time went by and as I was familarizing myself with the staff and students I realized that some of the students had a degree higher than the professor. I began to notice that these students were catching mistakes in the books, misprinted formulas, wrong answer keys...etc. The teacher could not prove the formulas were wrong on the material, so we were graded based on incorrect information.

The equipment was crap. Most of it didn't work right and was probably never calbrated. We had power supplies, signal generators and osc. scopes from the 80's. They promised new equipment and that we would get to see that day. By the time we graduated with our B.S. We saw that they only put new osc. scopes in 1 class. Thats it.

Getting school loans was a pain. They found whatever, whomever to provide a loan for you. The job placement program WOW! what a joke. All they did was spend all of there days posting HotJobs, MonsterJob and other job posting sites on a wall and called that job placement. Once in awhile they would inform you of career fairs and if the school ever hosted their own career fair, it had nothing to do with with your field of study! Come on! I was going for an electronics degree and they would bring in nursing and loan officer recruiters!! And don't let me get started on their library. at least at the Anaheim location. It was as big as corporate restroom(6 stalls wide), had computers that would take at least 10 minutes to boot, the reading material were composed of donated books and magazine subscriptions, and it would only be open if a student would volunteer their time to check people in and out! It was so cramped and just not up to date that it was embarrasing that a technical school would be 10 years behind in technology.

The vending machines would take your money constantly, and when you finally filled out the paper work that would take 10 minutes to complete to get your .50 cents back, you would realize you bought expired food. The coffee machine poured out chicken soup out of the same nozzle.

I can go on and on, but I would take half a day to write out all the crap that wet on there...even when ITT would lie about people being absent when they took roll. They would account for students being present when they were absent, most likely to get gov't. funding for every student in a chair. All that you learn from this school could be taught if you do some internet research and a few trips to the library.

Final thought, don't buy in to the commercials, leave this school alone.

ITT or Air Force...

At least you could have made your story a bit more believable by saying you had a choice between ITT and a regular 4-Year college.  If you got 90% wrong on the ITT test, you would have gotten 100% wrong on any Air Force test.  The only way the Air Force would let you near a plane would be as a passenger.

went to ITT several years ago for their B.A. program. He took electrical engineering courses for 3 years and got placed in a position at Nikkon in the San Jose area working on microchip fabrication machines. They even relocated him to Germany for several months to work at a factory there. He currently makes a very good living thanks to ITT. YMMV.
