Hello,

Just wanted to give some information on an advertisement I applied for when looking through the Sunday paper here in Tampa, Florida.

Job was requesting "Admin Assist for Mgmt. Company growing. Will train. 984-9662, ask for Raul". I called the number shown for the advertisement where a woman answered the phone with J & R Wholesale and was asked to come in Wednesday 1/21/04 for the interview at 7667 56th Street at the South Terrace Plaza in Temple Terrace, Florida.

After filling out a badly copied application, Raul liked my interview and requested I come in Thursday 1/22/04 for the 2nd interview and to meet his manager.

I went to the 2nd interview and met with Jose. (Latin) He came across to me as a motivational speaker, very good with what he was saying and made it seem like this was possible. After the information about the perfume, and Larry Hahn, and how all this got started, he also stated that there would be no networking, no sales, and he would show us how to do the inventory, ordering, papers and all the managing necessities. He also stated that he would give us some perfume to sell to our families, but that would only be to understand their products and how great the product is.

Jose liked me and sent me and another person into the other room to fill out another sheet asking for our DL# and our SS#. I filled out the sheet only because he stated that he wanted to check to see if any of us had any criminal background. I wasn't thinking about the SS#...that's normal for any job application. As soon as I came home I got on the internet to look up these businesses. From the beginning, I was a bit skeptical about this, so I got on the internet and looked up J & R wholesale which showed me a business named jrand which sales, computers, stereos and other such equipment. I saw that after my first interview. I did not know about Scentura Creations until the 2nd interview. After that interview, I came home and looked that up on the internet and found out about the scam. Good thing I did. There is a legitimate business named, "Scentura Creations", but I think that these guys are just using the business name (ficticiously) to do their scams.

I believe they are getting nervous about being there, when I called to confirm my training start date which is Monday 1/26/04, Raul sounded a bit nervous until he knew whom he was speaking too.

I am not going to the training class on Monday at 10:30am. And I have contacted IRS about this scam. One of the things Jose stated was that we (if hired) would be paid in cash on Saturdays and that no W-2 forms would be used. I would have contacted Better Business Bureau but they request that you face your complaint to the company you are complaining about. Sorry, no can do at this time.

I have since blocked my DL# and SS# from any background checks from companys that are not legite via IRS.

I was also requested to contact the Investigative Department of IRS to report what I know. I will do so on Monday 1/26/04.

I hope the others that were there and were hired find out about this job before it's too late for them. One of Jose jobs is to try to get us fired. Supposedly, if we quit, he receives $10,000. Yeah, right! I say....let him have it, and he (they) will get it, but I don't think it will be monetary.

Hope this helps.

Larry Hahn, Scamster Extraordinaire, got suckered into this mess with the same company

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Mon, January 26, 2004

I got suckered into this mess with the same company about 7 years ago. After being told during orientation that we'd all have to sell 50 bottles of their garbage perfume so we'd know what we'd be training OUR employees for we all hit the streets. For weeks we pounded pavement, knocked on doors, annoyed shopkeepers, all in name of getting this 'management' position. I was also sent with a co-worker on a 'business trip' out of state. Our expenses were to be covered by the *generous* 30.00 that our manager pulled out of his wallet. I talked him up to 50.00 but even that didn't cover one night in a hotel. But I got them back. Those first 50 bottles we had to sell (which, by the way, wasn't the end of it at all, they're so full of caca there it's wedged in between their teeth) I had my bf at the time buy them all using his credit card. I got my 500.00 commission check from the losers and scamsters who 'manage' the place. I cashed it, went shopping and 2 weeks later my bf contested the charges. His CC company wasted no time canceling the charge and crediting his account. My 'manager' called me in a rage and demanded I contact the credit card company and have them reinstate the charges. Told him it wasn't my credit card and I can't help what someone else does. I kept the check, boxes upon boxes of crappy perfume and went on my way to find a REAL job that actually pays quite a bit more than they were offering. So, if you want to get them back, at least a little, feel free to break the law yourself. I'm an honest moral person, but this was too much and I don't feel guilty or bad about any of it. Heck, maybe I'll go 'apply' again. ;)
