This jacka** goes by the name of Jack. He makes it a mission to protest against short term rentals in Nevada. I worked with this agent for a little bit and then stopped because he continued to speak negatively about short term rentals in Las Vegas. He didn’t realize that is what I was planning on doing with my properties so I fired him and went with another agent who had less negative opinions on my business. He shows up at the city council and commission hearings to protest against people applying for Short term Rental permits. This loser with obviously not a busy social life even puts the information on his own website to help other people protest and opposed these types of properties. He’s anti business and anti STR. To my fellow Las Vegas and out of state residents to DO NOT use this guy for an agent for buying or selling your property in Nevada.

I agree with much of what you have stated here. I use my 28 years of experience of selling Real Estate (with over 1000 Vintage & Mid-Century Modern transaction under my belt) towards building strong communities and neighborhoods that people love and cherish.
I use my resources and contacts to try to prevent corporate buyers and investors from buying vintage homes in order to turn them into motels. Neighborhoods are zoned residential for people to live in. They are not for investors to use as cheap motels. Homeowners have a stake in the neighborhoods and want to see them thrive. I have tons of research and personal experience to show that short term rentals are not good for neighborhoods and also raise home prices so that many people can no longer afford to buy in the vintage neighborhoods.

I do take time from my business and social time to occasionally go to Planning commission meetings and city council meetings to voice either my approval or opposition to proposed short term rentals. I also have a couple thousand people in my database that have requested for me to share this information with them. I do so at my own expense and time. At the last Planning Commission meeting (Step. 11 2018) I’m on record supporting a Short Term Rental for homeowners on 6th street. They live in their home and have abided by all the STR rules for the last two years. As long as the 660 foot separation rule is in place, I oppose any variances to that rule.
I’m not opposed to the “sharing” model that was the intent and foundation of AirBNB and other similar sites. I’m not anti-business or anti-short term rental if it is an on-premise homeowner looking to make a few extra dollars to get by or to enrich their lives by meeting new people as house guests.
Since you have made this “report” anonymously I have no way to know if you have contacted me for my services or just seen my posts and articles about Short Term Rentals. If you did contact me and had told me up front your plans were to buy homes for Short Term Rentals I would have advised you to find a different broker since I don’t work with investors looking to do that. Thank you for “firing” me rather than deceiving me with your intentions.
My clients and friends know that I stand up, put my name and face to my convictions and beliefs. I don’t hide in the shadows, I do what I believe is right for them and the neighborhoods we all live in. That has worked for me for almost three decades as an agent and I will continue to hold true and to attach my name to what I write and say.
