JC Financials / Consumers Reward Program /Sara Dose JC Financials Consumers Reward Program - Fraudulent Lottery Scam!! Buffalo New York
I received a letter in the mail from J C FINANCIALS, stating I won a lottery in the second category from Consumer's Rewards Program Lottery held on May 16, 2008. A check for $3950 was enclosed made payable to me drawn on First State Bank in Hemphill Texas. It stated I would receive a lump sum of $39,000, which was drawn from the total prize of $480,000 shared among North American winners in this catergory.
The letter instructed me to keep this award from public notice and to contact Dough Wilson or Rachel Pearson at 905-598-5917 to assist in finalizing my claim. I called the number & was instructed by a woman who said she was "Rachel" to deposit this check and call them on Saturday for further instructions. I asked her how they got my info & exactly how I won. She said my numbers were chosen from a drawing. I asked, "What drawing/Lottery, a California Lottery?" After a brief pause, she said Yes. She seemed irritated when i said "It seems to good to be true" She became very short with me & a bit rude.
I was suspicious immediately so I researched JC Financials online. I found that all this was a scam and found the exact same story from another victim on Rip Off Report.com. The letter said All prices must be claimed by July 11, 2008.
My envelope and stamp were from Niagara, ON. Canada, Business address from Buffalo, NY and check from Hemphill Texas.
