I've been a customer of JD Byrider for years and in that time I've had three vehicles that I paid entirely to much money for but had no credit, and needed a car. I got a 2004 Chrysler Seabring I've had for two years now Im down to 3,000 dollars and it would of been mine, but I got sick of constantly putting money into the car and it never getting fixed. I took it to other repair shops where they checked it out told me what was wrong and estimated how much it would cost to fix my car, JD Byrider fixed things that wasnt even needed to be fixed and without my consent.

Now my car finally broke down I was on my way to work, I call them and all their worried about is their carpayment. I told them I just had that car out their numerous times and they havent fixed it, tired of paying on a car that breaks down like every month. So the owner said if he fixed it would I continue making payments I said yes thats all I wanted. They came and towed my car paid for the tow, then told me I'd be hearing from them, a week went by and my friend calls me saying they called her and for me to call them. I call them and here they were calling the wrong number, said that its the number they had in the system, but they never had trouble calling me before plus they had other numbers for me. Then I asked about my car and they tell me that because they couldnt get ahold of me it was in the process of repossesion. I said wait a minute what happened thought it was gonna get looked at, she didnt know anything about it and when I told her what he said she said he couldnt make those arrangements with me.

I call the guy that made the arrangements with me and he tells me, my car was looked at and is fine. I said that can't be it was broke down a week ago, he tells me they hooked it to a computer and everything is fine. So I ask where my car is he then tells me hes not sure, tells me we tried calling you bout your car couldnt get ahold of you. I tell him well wheres my plates then cause at this point I'm furious wondering what is going on with this place. He tells me he has to make a few calls and will call me back.

Hours go by I decide I'm gonna call the towing place to see if they knew anything, plus I have no ride to find anything else out any other way. My friend suggests call the tow place, so I do and here they tell me my car is there! I decide to ask them if it was towed to JD Byrider in the first place or just sitting there they tell me they can't give me any information. Just that someone is coming to get my plates, so I call JD Byrider back tell them I know where my car is was it even looked at. They said it was looked at there then why wasnt i informed! He tells me he was getting ready to call me blah blah blah and I have their permission to get my plates, yes I believe so! Maybe I'm wrong to not want to pay on a car that is broke down when I was put back into warranty by the owner!!! He says its fixed when I dont believe that they also said it was repoed when really it was sitting at bills towing, I will never be dumb enough to get a car there again. Don't know if I can do anything about what they did to me, but at least I can warn others!

Learning about buying a vehicle

It is clear from your report that you have no idea about purchasing and financing a vehicle.  It doesn't help that you went to a subprime dealership to buy your 3 vehicles because 'their way' is not the right way for you, the consumer.

Start your reseach online as to the proper method of buying. Here is a very short version:

  1. Get your financing lined up with a credit union or bank before you even look for a new vehicle. The worst thing you can do is allow the dealership, any dealership,  to control the financing process. It is especially bad news for you when you allow a subprime dealer to finance your purchase.
  2. After you get your financing lined up, then research vehicles.
  3. Once you have a vehicle in mind and have negotiated a price, then you will need to test drive it
  4. Before you sign anything, have your trusted mechanic inspect the vehicle. Do not accept any statements or reports from the dealer or the dealerships mechanic.
  5. Then and only then if everything is in order, sign the purchase agreement and read everything before you sign it.
  6. Have your credit union fund the deal
  7. Drive away with your new purchase.

Never believe anything any dealership tells you verberally.  It only exists if it is in writing in your contract. It is up to you to maintain the vehicle after purchase at your expense. Most importantly:  financing the vehicle and maintenance of the vehicle are two separate things.

You can not hold back your payments because your vehicle needs repairs. You borrowed the money to buy the vehicle and the repayments are to pay back the loan. Maintenance is on you. If you take it to a decent mechanic then you can at least get an accurate idea of what is wrong, what it will cost to repair and when the repairs are made they will be done right.

Taking it to the dealership is not the right way to maintain your vehicle - it is expensive and the least likely way to get the right repair done especially when you are using subprime dealerships. The mechanics at subprime dealerships are not going to repair the vehicle right, they are going to 'bandaid' it together in hopes that it works long enough for you to drive it off the lot.

Now if you went to a subprime dealership because your credit needs work, start with working on your credit so you can buy a decent vehicle.
