Jiffy Lube Ismael, Manager took advantage of my teenage son's inexperience and sold them services we didn't need. He went in for a simple oil change of $70 and walked out with a $200 bill. They're abusive & irresponsible. Santa Monica, California
Jiffy Lube santa monica replaced parts in my car which were unnecessary. They took advantage of my teenage son's inexeperience and recommeded fuel filter replacement which I had already done a few months ago. When I confronted Ismael, so called manager of the shop, he not only acknowledged my dissatisfaction but also justified his actions and those of his employees. he was discourteous and smug.
he said they just recommend parts to be replaced based on mileage and age of the car! When I asked him if he could even see how dirty the fuel filter was, his answer was no it cannot be detecetd but we still recommend changing it anyway!
I asked him to credit me back but he flatly rejected the notion. He took no responsibility or made no attempt to offer any other form of credit for future services. What's interesting is that we have used them for the last few years but this was the first time I sent my young son to take care of this matter.
In short, a simple $70 oil change service cost me $197! Moral of my story is to avoid jiffy lube santa monica, never send your young kids to these ripoff artists, and say no to every recommendation they make until you get a second opinion.
