In 1969, the Corvette Stingray, with a 427/390 horsepower motor, a three-speed transmission, had an MSRP of $4,781. The 1969 Opel GT had a base of $3395, with a $99 engine upgrade option. NO WAY IN GOD'S GREEN EARTH did you ever get 4 to 5K over sticker!!! That is just an out and out lie. Now, I buy/restore/sell classic cars as a hobby and am quite well-versed in this area. Don't be saying stuff you can't back up. As far as the OP goes, it's way too late to do anything about it, the dealer has already placed the updated 'dealer price' on the car. But, if you got crystal clear pictures of every window on the car, you might have a shot. However, if I were you, I would go somewhere else to buy anyway. They sound like a bunch of sleezebags.

I seriously need to know about that sticker price and all legals ties to this. I am so upset that I am willing to put them to court anyway. I take a picture of the sticker with my cell phone and there is nothing else than MSRP on it. Just for the fun...was the first time in my life a salesperson gives me an used business card, all riped and with black finger prints on it. Talking about Jim Glover one of my friend bought a car over there 2 years ago, following a TV advertising. When she walk in, of course they don't have that specific car at that price. She insists and they show her a car all covered with paint advertising from bumper to bumper, a dark blue paint on a orange metalic color. Funny... Conclusion, if you are in the need for a new car, stay away from Jim Glover Chevrolet, after all, there are maybe some honest car dealers in the area. I have family owning a magasine, we are certainly going to do some free advertising for Chevrolet pretty soon

I was responding to the o.p. who said that the "sticker" price was the maximum a dealer could charge for a car. We don't know that the actual selling price wasn't on the car, maybe the o.p. was just focused on the msrp and thought that's all he had to pay. I said it should have been, and perhaps the o.p. just didn't see it. There is no law against selling a car for more than the MSRP. My first job was at a Buick dealership back in the late 1960's when Buick carried Opel cars. Opel came out with a GT model, that was like a smaller Corvette. We could not keep them in stock, and regularly got $4000 to $5000 over "sticker" for them.

If there is no markup sticker on the car, the dealership must sell the car for msrp. They cannot legally decide to markup a car after they get a buyer. If the markup sticker was there before the OP looked at the car, then too bad for him. But if the salesman just decided to mark it up over msrp for s###s and grins, then that is another story. The dealership does have a legal obligation to sell that particular car for the sticker price. Too bad for them for not getting that markup put on the car in time.

The "sticker" price is the MSRP or "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price". Many people expect to buy cars for much less than the MSRP, but there is no law against a dealership selling the car for more than then MSRP. Unfortunately for the dealer, the MSRP sticker has to be on an automobile, but the dealership can sell it for whatever they wish to. However, the actual price should have been on the car. Someone will come along and pay the $98,000 for the car if they want it badly enough, and that is what the dealership is counting on.
