A Con Artist and a Fraud this guy one Jose Alfonso Gracia (dba South Bay Yacht services or South Bay Trucking or BDR Marine and many more dba’s). I ended up spending over $ 18,000 dollars and ended up having my 40’ yacht towed 70 miles from Catalina to home.
Its going to cost me thousands more to get my boat back to where it was in operating condition. Paid for parts and labor never delivered, he insisted checks be made out to him personally rather than his company. Partial quotes hand written on scratch paper.
He is Con Artist, comes off like a real honest person, but is a fraud and con artist as noted by the San Diego Union Tribune where he was arrested for Fraud in 2011, going to marinas bulking boat owners out of their money.
According to TruthAlert he has over 50 judgments in excess of $300,000. Once he manipulates you into thinking he’s a kind and honest man, he stabs you in the back with over promising and never delivering. Never once did he or his un-certified crew show up when promised.
I would wait over 6 hours day after day, no calls and still no show. NOT one time was his word good, not one time! He uses scare tactics telling you how bad everything is and if it’s not all replaced it will be dangerous to use your boat!
