Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have banked with US Bank since 1996. I use MS Money to pay all my bills.

I made a payment via US Bank to Juniper to be sent on May 13th to reach Juniper by May 16th, the due date. According to Juniper, they did not get the payment till the 21st and they didn't post it till May 22nd.

What the heck are they talking about??? I had this check mailed nearly a week before it was due. What was it doing all that time??? Floating from desk to desk? And because of that, Juniper raised my interest rate from 8.99% to 24.24%!!!

This is the biggest rip-off I've ever seen by a so-called "Financial Institution"! I have paid significantly more than my minimum payment due since I started the account with Juniper.

I didn't realize what was going on until about the 19th of May. I called Juniper customer service and they said they hadn't received my check for $100, yet. I didn't believe it then and I don't believe it now.

I told the rep that I would give it one more day to clear. If it didn't clear, I would make a payment on the Juniper website. I did that, and even included the extra $39 for the "late fee", and Juniper posted that one correctly.

Two days later Juniper posted my original $100 payment that left US Bank on the 13th. Do they expect me to believe that it took 13 days to get to their "institution"?

I want my interest rate lowered to the original 8.99%. I did nothing wrong. I followed all the rules that Juniper set out. I even read the fine print!

What I didn't do, this time (and I really should have), was check out Juniper's reputation on www.RipOffReport.com. There are posts about Juniper since Feb. of 2002! I can't believe Juniper's still in business!

Since I first filed my report, Barclay's Delaware (AKA Juniper) has adjusted/lowered(?) my interest rate to 23.99% from 24.24%. Needless to say, I was ticked off to see the one quarter of one percent adjustment, particularly when it was originally 8.99%! When I called them, they said they could lower my rate to 22.99%. I was so mad, I hung up on the rep after I told him he should check out his company on rippoffreport.com. It was a stupid thing to do. I know. Since then, I have mostly paid them off. I just want people to know, you shouldn't have to bargain, or adjust, or whine, or anything, to get a fair deal. And this rate-dinging crap is wrong. Very very wrong.

Use Juniper's online payment for best results.

#3Consumer Suggestion

I've been a credit card customer of Juniper since long before it was bought by Barclays, about 10 years altogether and I have never had a negative experience with them. I have paid late fees for late payments, but that's the way it goes. On the other hand, I have a very good credit history and a long one with them, and of the five or so times I was charged late fees, I think only twice did I pay them. The other times they were waived. One thing I have noticed about Juniper is that they are a little slow to perform transactions--in both directions. I pay my bills online with them, and they never withdraw money from my bank account until three, four, or (this month) five days after the due date. I used to worry about getting charged fees, but it has never happened. Even if the due date is on a Sunday, as long as I select "pay once on the due date" I am considered on time. Before I paid online, I once had an experience where I felt a check took too long for them to cash and I asked for the fees to be waived. The bank did so. I suggest using the online payment system to have more control.

Your calculations are quite flawed.

'I made a payment via US Bank to Juniper to be sent on May 13th to reach Juniper by May 16th, the due date. According to Juniper, they did not get the payment till the 21st' 'I had this check mailed nearly a week before it was due.' Sending something on the 13th is only 3 DAYS before the 16th - not a week. Our weeks here are 7 days. Hence, them receiving it on the 21st is closer to our real week. Had you actually sent it out a real week before, you probably would have been alright.
