What year is your Durango? What engine? Two or four whell drive? What engine? Give me these, and I'll let you know if your truck is covered. Chrysler is doing it for alot of the models, and have been for a few years.

You were not specific. A shrill metallic squeal WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT BEING USED will often be the signal that you need new pads. Squealing brakes when you ARE using the brakes usually does not prove you need the pads replaced. This will vary from brand to brand. There is a paste that can be put on the pads to stop the squeal when you ARE using the brakes. The shuddering is a warped rotor- sounds like a bad machining job. I would think a rotor is around $350. So $1000 sounds more realistic, but you need a pro to respond here. How you correct your present situation to your satisfaction is a good question, but how do you know the rotors and pads on the vehicle now are not functionally satisfactory? Do you ever jack up the vehicle and pull a wheel to look at the brakes yourself? Disc brakes are easy to inspect. A $10 jack stand (for safety) is required.
