I have used Restylane for self-injected derma-filling since 2007, and I've never had an issue - except the Canadian company I purchased from disappeared. So, in looking for another source by Googling Restylane, I was led to Juveni's site. Even though I had a prescription for Restylane, I thought I would give Juveni a try since it did not require a prescription and purportedly had 2% Lidocaine in the formula to minimize pain.
I JUST used the product a tiny bit after first receiving it, and did notice a lot of initial swelling. It was very painful to use, which I assumed was because the needle was a larger diameter and the filler was thicker. Once the swelling (kind of a test area) went away, I thought it was okay.
Last night, a month and a half later, I decided to try more. I used it under my lower lip, and barely used enough to even see any of the product diminish. About an hour later, my lip started to swell to twice it's size. I tried applying ice, to no avail. I could feel a reaction in the glands under my neck even. I went to sleep hoping it would settle down and improve overnight, but it is just as bad today as ever.
Fortunately, I had a full course of an antibiotic in my freezer, and since it is the weekend, not willing to mess around with my condition worsening, I've started this course of antibiotics - which I do not do lightly.
I am very concerned about the integrity of this product, I'm feeling duped that in that searching for Restylane, I was side-tracked by Juveni's web site, and I ended up buying into it. I am contesting my purchase with my credit card company, but more than anything, I hope to spare any other individual the trauma of using this product.
Also, my credit card receipt says it came from Fortaleza, Brazil - the distributor is in Kentucky. Had I known I was receiving a product from a South American manufacturer, I don't think I would have had confidence in it. Restylane is a high-tech European product - tested for many years.
