Employees at Kays are expected to get one new credit application per day.  If they don't they could be fired for it.  It is one of the six standards that they must complete every day.  So, needless to say, they don't care about whether or not the customer gets approved or not.  They don't care if it will mess up the persons credit or not.  Heck, a lot odf the times they don't even tell the people who are signing up that they will have their credit checked.  They really look for military who are just starting training in that city or who just graduated.  They pray on young people who are barely old enough to sign.  They also thrive on elderly people.  As an employee I know first hand.  It is high pressure to produce and they don't care of the consequences that the customer may suffer.  You are not signing up to be a preferred customer as they call it.  You are applying for creidt. Don't let our lies get you in trouble.

"So, needless to say, they don't care about whether or not the customer gets approved or not."

I don't get it.  Why would a retail  employee care whether or not a customer was approved.  As a matter of fact, how would it be any of their business?  What a weird notion.

They don't care if it will mess up the persons credit or not.  Heck, a lot odf the times they don't even tell the people who are signing up that they will have their credit checked. "

That's not really up to you to determine.   You must assume that most adults that do not qualify as mentally impaired,  are aware that a credit application involves a credit check.

They really look for military who are just starting training in that city or who just graduated. "

Are you implying that people in the military are morons that cannot survive without your explanation of the ramifications of a credit application?    Most would be offended by your condescending tone.

Bottom line, I get asked to fill out credit applications at half the retail stores I visit.  I just say "no".   Problem solved.    Making out like your employer is conspiring against the mentally deficient is disingenuous at best.

You can go to just about any retail store that has a Credit Card, their employees are also required to get credit applications.  If you can't handle it then perhaps sales isn't your thing.

Really so the employee is responsible for the customer if they sign up for the credit and fail to pay their bill?

Sorry but a retail sales clerk is NOT responsible for how people handle their business.  Were you on some personal mission to become the "caring" clerk who did not want people to get in over their heads.

If so I am sure that you were so caring that if they paid you cash you gave your customers the "3rd degree" as to where they got the money and can the really afford their purchase.  I am also sure that when they did you another credit card you were so concerned about them that you questioned them as to if they would be able to make the payments.  I bet you even kept their contact information and made follow up calls every month to make sure they made their payments.  After all you were so concerned about them and how opening up a store credit card could mess up their credit.
