Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I found a car I was interested in that Tyson's Ford had on Ebay. I've always been skeptical of buying anything used from the internet, especially a car. Before placing a bid I called & spoke with Chris, their internet sales manager. He said that the car ( a corvette ) was in good shape, save "normal age".

I then placed a bid & was successful. The next day I left a deposit through paypal, hired a truck & driver to haul the car, and was off on a 1100 miles round trip through HELL !!!! After riding more than 10 hours one way & spending nearly $600 in fuel costs for the truck alone( I still owe the driver , as well) , I arrived at the dealership to find a car that was a complete DISASTER !!!

Even though the carfax came back clean, the car had obviously been badly wrecked ( and poorly repaired ) . I should point out here that carfax only reports TOTALED WRECKS. If the car can be fixed for less than book value, or was not reported as totaled, Carfax is worthless. It take a LOT of damage to total a corvette, due to their cost. That car had the hood & front bumper both obviously changed !! Any car person would KNOW IT ( I saw it immediately). Rough, nightmare of a car.

The interior condition was horrible beyond description, carpets, seats, door panels. all destroyed. The engine....well, I don't know where to begin. It smoked like a train when started, & missed horribly. The miss didn't clear up at all, probably a bad cam shaft. After I noticed the miss , they had the nerve to ask if I was ready to sign the paperwork, tried to hurry me inside, away from the car. I think not ! The show was just beginning. After allowing the car to idle about FIVE MINUTES longer, there was an electrical burning smell , & smoke began to rise around the distributor. The car nearly CAUGHT FIRE ON THE LOT !! No wonder they were in a hurry. This car's ebay ad stated, And I quote..."fly into ******airport & drive it home". Yeah, right. (I won't name the airport. Innocent in this. ) . Only if you live within one block of the dealership !!! I got my deposit refunded only because I knew not to leave until it was. Quoting Chris "we'll mail you a check". NO WAY ! I went into the office with him & watched as he transferred the money back through paypal. I'd never trust people who do business this way. You shouldn't either. If they were trustworthy, the car would've never been sold in that shape.Believe me, I know whereof I speak. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS !!!! btw, I asked the dealership beforehand about other reports on RIP OFF REPORT.COM against them. Their reply was "Never heard of that website."

I know this person Chris Mensel. He did 90 idays in a South Carolina prison for writting bad checks. He has a bad reputation in the state of North Caorlina as I was told by the last car dealership that fired him, in High Point. He is known to be a shady business person. As I remember it, the car dealership in High Point had criminal charges against him. He then went to Virginia. As a business owner, I would hope that his current employer did their homework before hiring him. If they did and they still hired him, then they are as dirty and criminal as he is.

As always, buyer beware. Beware of this person and any company he is employed by.

#3Consumer Suggestion

Thu, June 25, 2009

I too bought a car from Kip Killmon's. What was advertised was NOT what I bought. Yes I know I bought a used car, but I wasn't planning on buying something which was completely unsafe to drive. I will be filing my own report on this site. Thing is right now I'm dealing with the fall out: 1. He filed a non-payment strike on my account. Which is totally untrue. I have the receipt SIGNED by Chris on the company letterhead and a second printed receipt. 2. He was attempting to have my feedback struck by contacting NetNeutrals. E-Bay informed me that they wouldn't remove the feedback because it didn't meet the criteria for removal, and that NetNeutrals is only able to make suggestions. What I'm curious about is this second account you mentioned because I can not find it on E-Bay "tysonfordsuperstore". I'm interested because I plan on following up EVERYTHING and building a case against the dealership. I'm currently in the process of filing a formal complaint against the dealership, through Fairfax Co. The Consumer Protection Act, won't help me recoup all the money spent to get the car to what was advertised, or just into SAFE driving condition. But I do think it may promote a level of honesty to future clients, as well as identify them and their actions, which it seems is needed. Plus Fairfax Co, can and says they will peruse the company if legal action needs to be taken.

Karl - what does your comment have to do with this guys experience? It wasnt even a Ford product he was buying? Anyway...I am aware of this place as I live and work in the area. They buy these cars cheap at auction and try and resell them on eBay. To be fair they do get some nice cars but most are polished terds. Caveat Emptor. On Carfax...they do not just reported totalled wrecks. Thats not true. If a police report was not filed it likely will not get onto Carfax or if $ is below a certain level. So yes I too have seen my share of cars that have been wrecked and nothing on Carfax. As long as there are dealers there will always be shady deals...goes with the business sadly. I have only used eBay once for a car and only reason I went thru with it was because I was able to drive up to inspect it beforehand....and it actually was as nice as they stated and I bought it. My belief is if I cant get there in 4hrs or less and able to inspect it I will let it go...I have alot less trust than you did in people's morals.

Ford is just like other auto manufacturers who don't care about the customers!!! KARMA has taken over and Ford, Chrysler & GM will most likely all go BANKRUPT within the next three years!! Chrysler will most likely be the first to go, then GM & Ford can compete in their LOSING ways until one of them runs out of money! These corporations are a DISGRACE to America anyway!! We don't need them around anymore!! We need GOOD companies like- Sun Edison, Google, Honda, and a few others that are looking towards the FUTURE!! Ford is DOOMED!!! Watch their stock become a PENNY STOCK someday soon!!!! R.I.P. P.S. YOUR LIFE COULD BE IN DANGER IF YOU HAVE A TOYOTA because there are AIRBAGS that are NOT deploying when in accidents!! Google this- ENGINE SLUDGE and go to the consumeraffairs website about Toyota engine complaints and read them! Then click on 'AIRBAGS' and read ALL OF THEM!!! YOUR LIFE COULD BE IN DANGER!!! BEWARE!!! Google this- SUIT: DEFECT REPORTS ALTERED TOYOTA PLANT and read the Whistleblower Lawsuit about DEFECT REPORTS BEING ALTERED!!! See, there's the PROOF!! Google this- YOUTUBE TOYOTA SEQUOIA DEFECT and watch the video of a Sequoia that flipped over on I-95! Even Toyota produces sub-prime vehicles!!!! The Japanese corporations, some of them, are just like American corporations; interested in making MONEY rather than a good product!!! Guess what? Even Toyota's stock is DECLINING!!!

I recently received a letter from the better business bureau containing Chris Mensel's reply to my complaint. He has actually had the nerve to lie to them, saying none of this ever happened. Quoting his reply to them " This person is not our customer and did not purchase a vehicle from our company. " LIAR !! The ebay item # was 120268421022. Check it out. I'm clearly succesful bidder. timeinabottle811 is MY ebay ID. I've always known car dealers were crooks & liars, but chris has hit a new low here. I guess a snake like this will say & do anything to steal a dollar.

The junk heap corvette that chris tried to pawn off on me has been re listed on ebay for a THIRD time. It was previously listed under the seller ID " tysonfordsuperstore", item # 120268421022. That was the first listing, when they tried to pawn it off on me. The seller ID is now "kipkillmon's". Item # is now 360066188074. This is it's THIRD listing. It still has 7 days left as I post this update. They have TWO ebay accounts. That allows them to scam more people, I suppose. These crooks will stop at nothing to make a buck. That corvette is pure junk !! I hope whoever is bidding reads this & thinks twice. They, along with all of this dealer's customers should BEWARE !!!!

Check out the ad I bid from. Item # 120268421022. GROSS MISREPRESENTATION !! Although they did say the interior needed work, they didn't make clear how bad it really was. The door panels were nearly all the way loose. Flapping when the doors closed. They also misrepresented the body as having "no fiberglass damage or issues". Sure, if you forget the hood, front bumper & the silver carpentry screws someone put in the side under the passenger door after the wreck it was clearly in. That thing in their ad about "fly in & drive it home" is ridiculous. Thank goodness I had a ride home. As I said earlier, the car nearly had an electrical fire after idling for 10 minutes. Chris tried to BS me by saying that was just oil burnoff. Oil burning smells completely different than that. This was definitely an electrical problem. The DISTRIBUTOR was smoking. That's not oil , folks. I've seen it all before & know the difference !! I'm telling you, not matter how good the deal sounds, DON'T BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE !!!
