I work for Knight refrigerated. So far everything has been a big lie. I was told I would receive $50 a day for orientation. Instead its $50 period. Plus if you quit within 90 days you owe Knight $200. More if the truck is not returned to where they want it. It's been three weeks since orientation and I have yet to even receive the $50 for orientation. I was sent to Indianapolis to pick up a truck which was still broke when I got there. I ended up lucking out that a driver got arrested at his house and I rode with another driver to pick up his truck. The guy I rode with wanted that one because it was newer, so I got his old one (lucky me). The next morning it had a puddle of coolant leaking. This is the next big problem I found out with Knight. They only want to make repairs at a company shop. Trouble is this can really take a long time as I found out. Let me tell you that moral with Knight drivers sucks!! If they are not waiting days for a load, they are sitting in a shop with a broken truck. I about dropped over when I heard they do "B" services at 30,000 miles!!! OMG I owned trucks myself and was told never to go over 15,000. I pity the Knight driver who leases one of these trucks. I guess this all stands to reason coming from people who used to help run Swift. At least on the refrigerated side you get better miles. Trouble is they frequently require you to falsify your logs in order to deliver or pick up on time. I have talked to drivers who get over 4500 miles in a week!! Tell me how they log that legally?? Dispatch appears to look the other way. Although DOT has just performed a surprise audit and found the refrigerated side very naughty. So if they want to keep business I will bet they play nice for the DOT at least for a while. All in all I guess this is what driving a truck comes down too. Being lied too, falsifying logs if you want miles, and playing the games the company bean counters want to play.

i have worked for knight over 5 years and i am now going thru the same thing. i have been lied to by a couple of dispatchers recently and my dm has been keeping me out weeks at a time with less than 2k miles a week. i have been trying to talk to management for the past 2 days and im being ignored. i went from getting over 3k miles a week, being home weekly, and told "great job" ...to this.

i to worked for knight for a little over a year. i was laid over a lot out on the west coast and i was stuck in laredo texas for 3 or 4 days under a load because no one had bothered to get the correct information for the company that i and 7 other drivers were to deliver too. i never received lay over pay for the times i was layed over. i was out for 6 weeks and was told that we receive a day and half off for each week we are out. so i had 6 days coming to me. the truck i had needed to get into shop asap since i had major electrical issues with it and had bad steer tires. i got to the kc terminal and got truck written up and sent messages several times via qualcomm my dm in minnesota telling him that i'd be going home for home time. i called my brother who drove over 2 hrs to get me. once i was at home my dm called me and tried saying that i couldn't take that much time off( why not when they allow some drivers to take a week off), he then tried telling me that since i was laid over numerous times that it also counted towards my home time. well i went to upper management and still nothing got done. well i told him that i was resigning and that i'd be down as son as i could to get my stuff. well i have now found out that they lied and falsified my dac saying i was terminated, but never gave a reason and that i was not eligible for rehire. i was always on time unless it was beyond my control. so the original poster is right. they will lie on your dac even though you voluntarily resigned.

I must say that I was surprised to see that this report was here. I am a current employee of Knight Transportation. I, personally, am based out of Dallas, TX. I have NEVER had troubles with getting enough miles, my pay has always been timely and accurate, and I have had no trouble idling in Winter or Summer if it is necessary. My bunk heater works well and my A/C freezes me out. Never have I been lied to or mislead and I have recieved my bonus and raises as expected. It is strange that you would have such problems with equipment when their power units (the trucks) are mostly 2007 and 2008 models still under full warranty. Sorry you had a bad experience, but most Knight employees I talk with are honest, hardworking, friendly, fair......and HAPPY. PS...I very RARELY have layovers, and when I do usually it is my choice and I have no trouble getting paid....don't even have to call. By the way, they alsp have truck washes to keep equipment looking sharp. Richard, Dallas,TX
