I received an email advertisement on Friday, Sept.7, 2018, from LA Police Gear that showed a type of pants I wanted to purchase at the very attractive price of $14.99 per pair. I followed the link, [ lapolicegear . com/apparel-footwear.html?cat=235 ] to the LA Police Gear website and confirmed that the price was the same as shown in the email advertisement. I started an order for 6 pairs of the desired pants but when I went to the check out page I found that now all the items in my "Shopping Basket" had increased in price by $4.00 per pair.
I contacted LA Police Gear through their websites "Chat" link. After explaining that I based my order, (not yet completed), on the advertised price of $14.99 per pair but was now seeing a higher price of $18.99 per pair I was asked to hold on while the Chat Representative looked into it. After some time I asked if there was anyone there and was told that she, the Chat Representative was contacting "Management" about this matter.
After a further hold, I was informed that the lower sale price of $14.99 per pair was for those items that had been "over ordered" and it appeared that all those items were now sold and no longer available. The items I had currently in my "Shopping Cart" were not those that had been on sale.
I was informed by the Chat Representative that I could continue and complete my order then she would send me a discount that would reimburse me for the extra charge for my order.
A classic Bate and Switch scam with the added insult of offering me the opportunity of becoming an accomplice in the scam.
