I ordered and purchased new a 2004 Range Rover HSE in May of 2004 at a cost of over $90,000. The saleperson told me that this car had the highest level of manufacturing quality control in the industry due to its design and its off road use, and becuase of that it would retain a high value for reasle over the years (current bluebook- $12K).

During initial warranty period repairs were malfunction of engine parts, cooling system, power mirrors and drive axels. Although these repairs were initially covered, I realized early on that the cost of these repairs were significantly high and that in order to maintain this vehicle I would need to purchased an extended warranty to cover the car to 100,000 miles, which I did at a cost of almost $4000. The vehicle was never off road, city driving only, all service and maintainence were performed.

The car had over $35K in repairs during the 4 years that the extended warranty was in place (many of the parts not covered). Those repairs included, numerous repairs and replacement of parts previously repaired during the original warranty period, repairs and or replacement of drive axels. halfshaft axel, torque converter, air suspension, radiator & cooling system replaced, ,intake manifold and gasket leaks(2x),door seals replaced 2-3 times, transmission failure at 96,000 miles(not all covered by the warranty).

I purchased another extended warranty in October of 2010 at a cost of $3500 to cover my car from 100,000 - 3yrs- 136,000 and again the transmission had to be replaced for the 2nd time. 2 weeks later- intake manifold valve & gaskets leaks require and additional $1300 in repairs(much of it not covered by xternded warranty). Dealer/Manufacturer were asked to pick up cost for these new repairs due to excessive breakdown of parts- it is apparent this this vehicle is a LEMON- they replied not their problem!
