i want to warn everyone here to never go to larry's A-1 auto in west berlin, nj. they are an absolute disgrace and here is why:

Larry's A-1 auto was a local shop that sounded promising on the phone when i explained what exhaust system i wanted done on my car. the owner said he could do what i wanted, specifically, no problem. i left the car there for the headers, 2.5" pipes, flowmaster mufflers and a bung after the "x" pipe to be done. when i went to pick up the car i questioned how it was done and was told not to worry it was done the best as possible but with the type of car i had it was not possible for the "x" pipe or bung to be added. i am 17 years old and didn't know better so i trusted his "25 years experience".

once i got home, i found out that he put the wrong exhuast system on my car, and he didn't tell me about it or ask me if i wanted that done. he put 2.25 inch exhaust with no x pipe and no bung. after i found this out i called larry and every time i did, he said he was too busy to fix it, and to call back next week. i drove the car for a few months having to change out gaskets sealing the system up every so often because the pipes going to the collectors were not the right size. i showed up there alone the other day to ask Larry to fix the exhaust. i courteously explained that the exhaust system was done wrong and i would like it to be fixed because i paid hundreds of dollars for this to be done. he told me it was not his problem and he was not putting in the labor hours to give me what i originally paid for, that it was fine how it was. all this time i was very polite regardless of how i was being yelled at by two grown men. i was then told to leave the shop and to call another day because he didnt feel like dealing with me. two days later i returned looking for answers once again i was treated disrespectfully and told that it would not be repaired. when he started to talk down to me, i gave him an attitude back, because i knew i was in the right, he just didn't want to fix the problem. he told me i didnt know what i was talking about and that a 2.5 inch exhaust system would not fit in my monte. (i have an aftermarket trans crossmember that is specifically designed to accomodate larger exhaust systems by the way.) i was told to leave and not return again. he even admitted to my face that he went ahead and did the work that was not approved by me to get the car out of his shop and driveable.

as a result i lost $750 plus what it will cost me to have it fixed. i was treated very disrespectfully and they did not like when i questioned their work. one mechanic got in my face and yelled at me using foul language and name calling which was threatening to me.

so just in case you guys ever think of going to this place for any type of honest work, think again. i support hard working honest business people, and this shop is not honest and not hard-working so i am letting everyone know ahead of time to save this from happening to anyone else!

The above posters comment is VERY true. The job was done like some hack did it in their backyard. But in all fairness to the shop, they are not a professional establishment. It is literally a backyard operation. The garage is a small 2 car building attached to his house with a lift in the backyard under the trees. They drink all day and close to go to the bar for lunch. If your looking to save a buck its a good place to go, if you want something done right I would look elsewhere.
