I consulted Bruce Bunch's firm 8 months ago to handle a medical malpractice case involving bad dental work that put me in the hospital for 8 days.  Mr. Bunch's assistant, Phillip Denny phoned me & said, "I spoke to Mr. Bunch & we are interested in handling your case."  He also said, "Since we have a year to file the case & it's 1-30-18, we have plenty of time."  Seven months went by without hearing from Mr. Bunch's office.  I e-mailed Mr. Bunch's assistant, asking about the case & didn't receive a reply.  I was especially concerned because I still had not been provided a retainer agreement - 7 months after they told me they were interested in the case.  And there is a time limit to file a case.

After another month, I received a phone call from Phillip Denny.  I was hoping for an update, but the only purpose of his call was to ask me to send him $1,000.00 for his "expert witness" to review the case.  "Review the case?"  Isn't that what an attorney does?  This was a contingency case and we still did not have a retainer agreement.  I consulted with other attorneys who said, "Without a retainer agreement, it is unethical to ask for any fees; especially in a contingency case."  Who would be foolish enough to pay an attorney for some unknown "expert" witness when they have not even decided to take the case?  At that point, I knew the type of people I was dealing with & I informed Bruce Bunch that I wanted to pick up my records & take my case elsewhere.  He sent me an e-mail with the following:

"This letter will serve to inform you that we have reviewed the facts of your case, but, unfortunately, the firm will not undertake your representation or pursue a legal action on your behalf."  Quite amusing, since I already fired them.  And, nice attempt to rip me off for $1,000.00.

I had to laugh after I read that because when I presented the case, they said they were very interested in handling it.

Translation:  "If you're too smart to let us rip you off, we are no longer  interested in your case."  What they were  interested in was scamming me for every dollar they could...BEFORE they even decided to take the case.  After taking my money, the attorney can say, "Well, sorry...we decided not to take your case after all...which is exactly what happened.  If I replied, "I paid $1,000.00 for nothing," he would say, "We paid our expert witness the $1,000.00 to review the case, so we can't give you a refund."  Had I continued to trust them, the one-year limit would get closer & I wouldn't have had time to find another attorney.  And how much more would I have paid for more fabricated "expert" witnesses?

There are several negative reviews of this law firm on other sites.  They describe exactly the same issues.

You've been warned.  Hire Bruce Bunch's firm at your own risk.
