I wish I would have known about this web-site BEFORE I got ripped off. My husband and I owed the IRS about $10,000 with penalties and interest. After seeing Roni's ad on TV we called her office. I talked with Scott and he said that they "definately could help us". For a fee of course...$2770! They explained that they would file an OIC on our behalf. To make a long story short...if I would have known that all they were going to do is file paperwork and nothing else, I would have done it myself and sent the $2770 to the IRS.

The OIC carried on for months. RLD's office kept asking for the same paperwork over and over again, stuff we sent them three times previously. Calling their office was a joke. I sat on hold many times for 45 minutes and if I left a message it would take them three days to call back! Our OIC was rejected in October. I got a letter from RLD's shortly there after saying that they were no longer our attorney (sorry we couldn't help you...bye) and then shortly after that the IRS put a lien on the house and threatened to garnish our wages (again).

I taking out a personal loan against my car and borrowing the remainder using my husbands car as collateral to pay off the IRS. If I would have just filed the OIC myself and sent the IRS money and went on a payment plan, I could have avoided all this! I am sorry I ever heard of them and saw their ad. I want to vomit everytime I see it now. I wish I would have known then what I know now and hopefully if other people read this before they use her office, they can avoid the hell we have been through. What a crook!! She needs to be stopped! I want my money back Roni!!

It would be basic common courtesy to help someone that PAID YOU for a service you failed at providing. Where the "REAL" crime lies is in you not coming on here (Roni) telling this person you are a GREAT employer, you apologise for the confusion from your client thinking you are a rip off, and you help this person........even for free!!! (like Scott, Matt, Russ, Greg, Randy, and any other of your arse kissing employees claim on here.) You will not even research and fix whats wrong with this client........but.......you will think of things to say at me to have people thinking I am full of it, yet it remains a mystery as to why if we are so wrong and you have such a great place to work at, why do the complaining parties NEVER come back and say you truly are a great place and they had a mis-understanding with what you were doing? Like Angy from Burbank.....who says you saved her marriage and her LIFE??!?!?!? A tax debt will now kill you??? Why would Angy look up your name for a rip off if you saved her life and marriage???? Finally we were taught to tell potential clients we assure them.....remember russ......"can you guarantee me?" " thata an excellent question Mr. Jones, I'm glad you asked that!" "we cannot guarantee you anything, but I CAN ASSURE YOU!" You taught that and everyone knows you did, even you know that when you look into the mirror....Donna echos what everyone that has complained on here has said, you are taking advantage of some people. You CAN settle OIC's, why do you not do it? Especially when people have gotten this far with what you are doing? Please help Donna and everyone else and stop the rip off process these people are complaining about in here.

When an attorney quits your case

While I agree with the previous poster that you should file a complaint with the State Bar and possibly file an action to recover your damages, to that state that it is "illegal" for an attorney to withdraw wihtout your permission is an incorrect statement of the law. In the case of pending LITIGATION, the tribunal will often require a substitution of attorney form or a motion by the attonrey to be relieved of his or her duties, but this is not a matter of litigation. There are many situations where an attorney can or even MUST withdraw and a formal motion is not necessary. In this case, there is not litigation, just a negotiation. The attorney's withdrawal may or may not have been a breach of their ethical duties, but that is an issue for the State Bar or the courts to decide.

Filing a suit for non-representation

#7Consumer Suggestion

I am a legal secretary. It is not legal for an attorney to simply "quit" in the middle of a case. They have to have your permission - actually file a signed document with the court. If you don't sign the document, they have to petition the court to be relieved as counsel. If they failed to adequately represent you, and it sounds like they did, you can file a complaint with the State Bar, and possibly even a lawsuit to recover your losses. I recommend you look into it. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. GOOD LUCK!
