Interesting enough, in October of 2002, I started a lease program for a nurit 2085 credit card processing machine. The fee's seemed high, but I didn't know. $ 60.80 a month to be exact. So I looked forward to October of 2006, when this long, costly lease would expire. So, I noticed at the 10th of this month, They again deducted $ 60.80 from my account.
So I call the not so nice people at lease financial group, where I get a Mrs. Smith, who explains that the last four years of my lease was for the privaledge of owning the equipment and if I wanted to keep it, I would have to pay $ 291.84. Wow, I said, I was really ripped off! She then hung up on me. NICE!
So I call back to 1-866-781-0440. Customer Service, and while being on hold for 25 minutes, I get Marco. Who was quite nice actually, he explained that the $ 60.80 I had JUST been charged on the 10th of November was NON-Refundable, look at your lease (the common scape goat) and if you wanted to cancel, low and behold I could purchase the equipment for $ 291.84.
So I did, what are you going to do, keep paying $60.80 a month until you die. So he explained I need to fax a letter stating I purchased the equipment after fulfilling my four years of costly lease, and that I wish to cancel. This will stop the debiting of my account $ 60.80 a month. They had better hope so!!
The fax number you need to send this ridiculous letter to is: 1-212-216-8261.
I will keep you posted as to if this really works. If not, my bank said to simply block the charge. So no worries.
