This company does multiple mailings using scare tactics to promote "Vascular Screening" for which they charge $60 per test. Screenings should be done for free. These people are doing cut-rate, short studies for which they charge.

They use church basements, community centers, fitness centers as their "laboratories". They have no accountability as they do not accept Medicaire or any insurance. They appeal to people who are afraid of doctors or who don't have insurance. The people who receive their mailings don't realize that free Vascular screening is available through the American Vascular Association.

This is just a cheap, inadequalty performed vascular study, which is a detriment to public health.

You are correct, Life Line Screening is a rip off, believe me, as a former employee all they care about is the mighty dollar.  Years ago they cared about their employees and customers.  They have now fired previous employees and hired those who can sell as many health screening tests to anyone who are scared into their tactics - I have seen them rip off people in their 80's and 90's , scheduling them for tests they don't need.  If you receive any mailings from "Life Line Screening" throw it away

These Leaches hire Telemarketers to make unsolicited phone calls for them.  They ignore do not call lists.  They use scare tactics to try to scare Seniors into expensive tests which are not covered by insurance and can only be paid for in cash. (they don't want to deal with cancelled credit card transactions or stopped checks)   They are deceptive and nothing more than scam artists.  DO NOT USE THEM !

As a former - note, FORMER - employee of Life line screening, I can assure you that some of the tests are EXTREMELY lifesaving.  Though by far, most people who get the tests have "nothing that requires immediate medical attention", a handful do indeed need immediate attention.  The problem is the average person doesn't know.  That's where the peace of mind of having the tests comes in.  How much is real peace of mind worth to you?

The GREATER problem is Life Line Screening has become more of a money making machine over the years than the screening service they hope you view them as.  Employees are strongly encouraged to "upsell" tests and packages (yes selling, like a car salesman trys to "add" floormats or a DVD player to your radio)

Some screening events are so overbooked that the employees rush to finish everyone just to get a 1/2 hr lunch (and many times they do not. Now how do you feel about being tested by an exausted/hungry technician?) and to finish at the end of day.  This is when you need to wonder about the quality of each and every screening.

When a business cares more about profit than the service or employee, the consumer suffers.  I have seen technicians AND team managers give Bogus results on result forms because they were trying to 'catch up'.

On a slow day, sure, get the test done.  If they look busy when you walk in, though you may get tested within the alloted time - you may want to reconsider, and get tested another day.

By the way...Walgreens sells a basic Cholesterol test for about $25.

My name is Joelle Reizes and Im the Communications Director for Life Line Screening. I would like to address some of the claims you made in your report.

Life Line Screening absolutely encourages people to take advantage of free screenings. In fact, the PAD Coalition and American Vascular Association and the Vascular Disease Foundation are organizations that we work with. While these organizations do offer some free screenings at specific times in specific locations, its important to note that there are not many of these free events.  There are nearly 800,000 strokes a year in the United States.  Affordable vascular screening services are a very valuable and important part of community-based care.

Life Line Screening employs highly qualified technicians to perform a variety of screening services.

Unfortunately, Medicare often does not cover preventive screenings. This is why we offer this service directly to consumers. We stand by our mission to make people aware of often silent medical issues that can occur before people even know they have a problem. We strive to offer screenings at affordable prices and to work closely with the medical community. We always encourage screening participants to follow up with their physicians.

To learn more about what people are saying about their screening experiences, we invite you to visit Life Line Screening on Facebook.
