it is clearly marked with signs and you are asked by security if you have safety shoes and vest. and yes this charge (fine) is sent by the receiver/shipper and your also told that you are going to fined and your information is taken... and was past to you via the contracted carrier ie; longhorn.

The company that charges $1,000 for not wearing steel toed shoes is the receiver and the fine was simply passed along through Scotlynn. This is a published policy of the receiver for anyone to see.
The driver was made aware of this policy via a rate confirmation that he signed and it clearly states there is a $1,000 fine for not wearing steel toed boots. We have dozens of loads delivering into this facility daily and the same policy applies to our company drivers as well as our outside carriers.
We make our money shipping product properly and following the policies our customers set forth and not by making up fines.
