I'm going through the same thing. An old debt of $1500 has now become closer to $3000 with all the fees. I called up the firm for a settlement. The lady who was dealing with my report was so rude I determined to file Chapter 7 than pay these fools.
After I said I don't have enough money to come up for all the misc. fees, the lady hung up on me. Can someone help me figure out if the 3 year statute of limitation is over on my debt since it was back in early 2002 when i made the last payment. Because if the SOL is up, these guys are just a rip off.

Okay, here is the deal. This debt is one of the three accounts opened on my name from an address I never lived. I have written many letters to the Credit Bureaus explaining them the same. After almost 1 year of disputing these charges, Two of the credit bureaus dropped these accounts from my credit report. Meanwhile, Love Beal & Nixon Co. has been on my back to pay off something that doesn't belong to me. They have gotten a default judgement without serving me papers. What do you think I should do?I am asking you since you mentioned that you were in the collection field earlier. This is very important.Please respond as soon as you can.Thanks.

I use to be a 3rd party debt collector, oklahoma statue is 7 years, and 5 years on medical...if you make a paymnt aftr the statue then its starts all over again, then you have another 7 yrs on that debt.
