LowRateApprovals.com and their marketing arm, Additional Biz LLC, combined to be my biggest mistake in 2007 and my biggest tax write off for 2007.

The first call was to sign me up as an independent advertising associate. $469.95, they would give me a web site and guarantee me 2,000 targeted visitors. In exchange I would get paid $500 for every loan application that was approved and went to closing. These were home mortgages and yes, they also financed people with marginal credit.

I was told that this was "cutting edge", Lending Tree without the advertising budget. They didn't have the capitol to advertise and that's where the ad associates came in. This was supposed to be my lucrative home business.

About four or five weeks later I was contacted by a representative of Additional Biz LLC. This person explained to me that the initial 2,000 hits on the site was far from adequate, and that I should invest in a really good ad campaign. About $5K. They would do an internet campaign, produce a TV commercial and a radio commercial. Too rich for my blood, but can we compromise?

We skipped the TV jazz and pared the thing down to $3,000. I was guaranteed 75,000 hits on one site and 64,000 hits on a site that would recruit other members. I'd get $275 for each new member. Less than a week later I was asked to buy print ads in Washington state by yet another rep. I was reassured that this was going to be very profitable by Sept./Oct. 2007.

This was in July, 2007. I checked this very site and at that time there were no reports on these businesses. Since July I gradually got the targeted visits to my sites, and the sites were hosted as agreed. But not one. I repeat, not one application and not even one commission check. Cost to me was a little over $4,000. A scam? A failed idea? The mortgage business tanked just as I was getting into this deal. In order to prove fraud you have to prove intent to defraud. Did these people take the leads I generated and not pay me? I'll never know unless someone from the company comes forward.

Many times employees don't really know what's going on. They do their jobs and collect their commissions, so I'm leaving out personal names at this time. Please take my advise and stay away from this kind of a deal. I just got a call this morning from another outfit trying to sell the same kind of a deal. That's what prompted me to come back to this site.
