Don't believe the ads for this product. It is garbage. You cannot just pick up the phone and make calls. there is such a delay in just making the call when you want. The system must go into a sleep mode. Many times you have to reboot the magic jack so you can make calls. I have to do it at least 3 times a week.
You have to try and get updates so your system keeps current.
You can never make a call, just live chat and they are not local.
You cannot fax with it, everyone I talk to has returned it and thinks it is sh--. I can't even think of a good reason to buy it.

My MagicJack Works Just Fine

I've had the MagicJack for a month now, and I've worked in the IT Field for over 12 years. Most of the problems some people experience with MagicJack are computer related, i.e. not enough memory, disk space, disk defrag, too many applications open at one time, including browser windows, and old version of operating system, etc. As far as the complaint about the MagicJack not working with fax, if you do your due diligence, you will find on their website that it admittedly does not work with faxes, along with a few other limitations. I enjoy my MagicJack and have suggested it to other friends, who are now enjoying the benefits of it as well. Hate to hear you've had such a negative experience. nlj65

Mr Kramer, First let me assure you that I am in no way associated with the Magic Jack organization, honestly... I was concerned that you may have had issues with the product. I'm sorry to hear that. I also purchased the item and I am very well pleased. I have had NO PROBLEMS, thank goodness. I find it works well and I have sent many faxes over the system. I use a switch box to go from the house PHONES to my fax machine. The only draw back I was concerned with is the fact that my computer has to be left on all the time for it to get incoming call, day and night. Hope you resolve the problems you have, probably in your computer or the operating system. Anyway, good luck.
