We were involved in a complaint for Elena Hammock before the Board of Revision in a hearing October 12, 2012. In that hearing, the county appraiser recommended no change in assessment - in effect, after revieiwing their data, the county felt the value they had on the property was fair.

Through our efforts and testimony, we convinced the Board that a lower assessment was appropriate and the Board revised the assessment, reducing Ms. Hammock's taxes by 29.6%. That is what we do - reduce people's taxes. Over five thousand appeals over 25 years, 93% of the time we are successful and we have NEVER had a client's taxes increase as a result of our work.

I have and would be happy to share with anyone interested, the paperwork which documents that we saved Ms. Hammock's LLC, My Prosperity, LLC $382.60. The Board of Revision Notice of Result is dated November 21, 2012 and she received a REFUND check from the county in that amount a couple weeks later. We billed her for our fee AND HAVE NEVER BEEN PAID A PENNY by her for this work. After a few letters sent trying to collect the fee she agreed by contract to pay, (invoice amount was $191.30), I just let it go.

Unfortunately, Ms. Hammock was not happy with her almost 30% reduction in taxes and opted, over my objection and advice, to appeal the Board's decision to the State Board of Tax appeals. We were in no way involved with her appeal, told her not to do it, but she did it and compounded the error by representing herself. The result of that appeal is the State re-set the assessment back to where it was when we started, erasing the reduction we had achieved for her.

She is misrepresenting that her taxes increased at all - they were set at a level exactly where they were as if she had done nothing at all.

She is misrepresenting that we had anything to do with an increase or failed in what we were hired to do in any way. The result of our work was a refund check to her of $382.60.

She did not follow our verbal and written advice not to appeal the Board of Revision decision, We were in that hearing and knew how close it was. That is was reversed on appeal was not a shock. That it would be reversed when the owner reprsented themselves with no knowledge of the original hearing was almost a foregone conclusion.

To this day, I do not know if Ms. Hammock is knowingly lying or simply misunderstands what we are about. Language is a bit of a barrier here, but that is not an uncommon factor for us to deal with - in fact some people hire us simply because of their discomfort in presenting  a case to the Board in their non-native language. I really do not know, and for less than $200 involved, I just let it all go.

We did everything we were hired to do, got her a 30% reduction, a refund of $382.60, gave her great advice about not appealing the decision, it's been all free to her as we were never paid, and the final thanks is a post to a complaint site that completely misrepresents what happened. It's like that some days, but my conscience is absolutely clear.

Again, I have documentation for everything stated here and a drawer full of thank you notes from happy clients over our 25 years and many clients who return to me for additional properties they've acquired. I guess one thoroughly misguided complaint in over 5,000 clients was inevitable.
