I wish I'd found the line reviews of this owner before I parted with my cash. We had an amazing time in Florida last year, so much so that we wanted to rent another villa in the same road as last year. We found one of Mary Xu's villas on HomeAway which had no reviews but looked in great condition. The villa was probably best summed up by the outside umbrella. It doesn't work and the owner/management company has kindly situated a re-purposed coat-hanger up inside which you can use to hook the umbrella into a position where it stays up. Not the standard of a villa costing over £2200 2 weeks. Other niggles included: - Kitchen blind is missing the stick to open it with - towels are badly worn and torn - There were only 3 teaspoons in the villa - The DVD player isn't connected, nor can you connect it as it's only got an s-video connector which the TV doesn't have a port for. They clearly replaced the TV but couldn't be bothered with the DVD player - A number of vertical blinds in the lounge area are broken and held up with duck tape (one fell down by itself) - The mattresses ALL need replacing. They are noisy, worn and really uncomfortable during the night. Some of them have completely collapsed - The table lamps are shabby and ripped - There are scuffs and bumps on a lot of the walls which look really unsightly - An item of bathroom furniture (towel rail?) has been removed in the main bedroom en-suite but the brackets are still on the wall and would be extremely painful if brushed against getting out of the bath - Loose toilet seat in the master bathroom - The Left toaster handle broken and comes off - not surprising considering how old it looks - No airer to dry clothes unlike neighbouring properties - The area at the back was filthy, to the point where I was on my hands and needs cleaning it myself. On top of all this, there were small black hairs, presumably dog hairs (?) on the floor all around the property. Clearly again it had not been cleaned properly. I informed Mary and she didn't really seem to care, just forwarded my email outlining some of the points about to the 'local management company' who never responded. I didn't intend to spend a holiday I'd been looking forward to chasing a management company that clearly don't care in the slightest. I have since told her that I am not at all happy with the arrangemeny and offered to send her pictures of the issues but she hasn't replied, nor has she compensated me. Avoid this owner at all costs she does not care at all. It also seems as though she removes listings when they have negative reviews and re-lists them which explains why the listing I found had no reviews at all when i booked. It now has two 1 star reviews out of three which says everything. How can someone operate in this way with such little regard for the comfort of their guests? It shouldn't be allowed and if I lived in the US I would be seeking legal advice.
