I had the same exact thing done to me. I called the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs and lodged a formal complaint. They were found to be in violation and now are being sued by the Governor's Office.
I had a six month contract - canceled one month into it. Paid the remaining 5 months dues in compliance with my contract and have bank statements to show for it. On the 7th month they tried to bill my credit card again... I had to cancel the card which was a pain for all of the auto payments that I had. I advised the company Bailey and darren that they are not to charge another payment. They got all of the money I owed. I am done. They claimed I never returned a 4 cent keychain tag and still owe until it is returned. Ha!
After I closed the account, their debit was declined so they charged me (although paid in full the month previous and canceled 5 months prior to finishing my payments) they then sent me a NSF fee. Then it went to collections and it ended up with a balance of $700. How amazing.
You must understand that I paid for the entire 6 months although I canceled one month after the start. This is how they treat people.
The crappy thing is how slow the Governor's office moves. It has been years and no justice has been served. In Georgia they encourage criminals to rip people off since there is NO PUNISHMENT for their crimes.
I am switching sides now to a life of crime so I will make more money too! : )
