Masterpiece Exteriors Sprayed Tex-Cote paint on my house which is now peeling extensively. Largo Florida
In November of 2004, Materpiece Exteriors sprayed my house with Tex-Cote paint and indicated that the job was guaranteed for life. A little over a year later, the paint started to peel. I contacted Masterpiece Exteriors and related my problem. I received a letter dated October 24, 2006 from Nikki Leach, Office Manager of this company, indicating that the paint was guaranteed for life but not the labor. They indicated that an "installer" would contact me after an "assessment" was made. The cost of the labor would then be due "before service begins". I have NEVER been contacted by anyone from this company. I now am unable to contact or even find this company.

WHY THEN is texcoate being sold to older homeowners as an absolute way of "never having to paint again". This is what is happenning to my mom'S house. She was led to believe tex coate paint was the cure all, never have to paint again, product and was never told it should or could not be applied over exsisting paint.

As a former employee of that company, I am very aware of the products they used. Tex-Cote, from Textured Coatings of America, is one of the finest products available. Most of the major bridges and roadway structures in the USA use Texcote, because of it's durability, long life, and resistance to moisture. You can go to their website, and see many examples of the work they've done for government and commercial applications. Their primers are first rate, penetrating, and very "sticky", however, little can be done when an underlying coat fails. Many homes start out with a contractor grade of paint, which is cheap, and often done without priming. Several coats later. when something gives way, the topcoat will come with it. Upon close examination, it will be seen that the topcoat is tightly adhered to the next coat. This shows that an underlying layer failed. Unfortunately, the solution, which is costly, is to remove all the old coats of paint, down to the base. Same as you do when you properly refinish an automobile. My painting experience goes back to the mid 60s. I've yet to see Tex-Cote fail. I have seen jobs which were done over 30 years ago still looking good. The problem is nearly always with the underlying coats becoming brittle, and giving way.
