My husband got a what we thought was a great deal through Worldcom. Everything was fine for a while until we started getting our bills late (almost two months late), then we stopped getting bills altogether. I contacted Worldcom after about 2 months of not receiving bills and they stated that I had a balance and would I like to pay the balance over the phone. I said "no", I told them I would like to see the bills before I just start paying them money. They stated that they would get a printout of all our bills and send them out to us. Well, one month later, we still had not received any bills. We started getting harassing phone calls from Worldcom stating that our account was in arrears and they wanted payment immediately. We explained on several occasions that we had not been receiving any bills and wanted the bills prior to paying them anything. Finally, we received the last four months of bills. We contacted them and informed them that we would be paying only a portion of the total bill every month until the balance was paid. Also, we decided to cancel our service with them since we had many problems. So, we started paying a portion of the bill monthly. Shortly thereafter, we received a letter from a collection agency stating that we our account had been turned in for collections. I contacted Worldcom and they stated that it was only an internal agency and that it was okay for us to pay the balance off monthly. Another month passed and we received more letters and more harassing phone calls from the collection agency. I again spoke with Worldcom and they admitted that I had been paying off my balance every month and tried to connect me with the collections department (which no one in my previous conversations had directed me to). After waiting on hold for an extremely lengthy time, I could not hold any longer. I spoke with the collection agency and they informed me that there was no indication that Worldcom had agreed to let me pay monthly. I just paid the rest of my balance so we shall see if the harassing phone calls and letter will stop.
