MCI Worldcom MCI LIES about rates - BEWARE - STAY FAR AWAY FROM MCI ripped off and scammed Atlanta Georgia
A few years ago, I received an unwelcome phone solicitation from an MCI telemarketer. This guy pestered me into signing up with MCI for long distance service. He asked me how much I was currently paying for my calls. I told him 5 cents a minute, and he told me that he could give me a better rate - 4 cents a minute. He exhausted me with his persistence. I agreed to switch to MCI for the 4 cents a minute long distance calls. Within 3 weeks, I received my first bill. I was furious to see that I was being charged 10 cents a minute for my calls. I immediately called MCI, told them there was an error on the bill. I was told that there was no 4 cent long distance call plan, and that my bill was correct. I was enraged, told them to cancel my service immediately, and that I refused to pay this bill. I told the MCI rep that there was no way I would have switched to a higher priced calling plan, and that the phone solicitor has deliberately lied to me. Well....MCI immediately turned my $26 bill over to a collection agency. This collection agency has reported me to the credit agencies FIVE times!!!! It is IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of them! I finally paid the d**n $26 dollars, that I had not wanted to pay out of principal, but the collection agency STILL refuses to remove these horrible derogatory marks from my credit report. These things must stop! They are ruining people like myself that have otherwise perfect payment history. Keep away from MCI!! Bridget Carmichael, California
