Medallion Financial Corp When I found them on the web, I called and they said all of my info was bogus. They don't do personal loans, and were aware that there was a scam going on using their name. Ny, Ny New York
I'd been trying to get a loan even though I have bad credit. After days of trying, I was called by a Medallion Financial Corp rep, who said his name was Jason. He told me that I qualified for a $5000 loan. What a God send! He gave various scenarios where I either needed a co-signer or someone to use their house as collateral, but that the fastest was was to send $500 to cover insurance in case I didn't pay a payment. If I paid all of my payments, they were going to refund this money. I actually went to the Western Union office, as Jason had directed and called him so he could walk me through the process so neither I, nor the insurance company where I was sending it would be charged too much. I couldn't get through. So I came back to work and kept trying. After not being able to get through, I started looking on the internet for Medallion Fin Corp and got a phone number
After I couldn't get through using the ph # they sent by e-mail, I found them on the web and asked for "Jason at ext 111". The sec said that there was no Jason, they didn't do personal loans, and that that ext didn't exist. She also indicated that they were aware that their name was being used in a scam where the loan recepient would send $500, supposedly for insurance in case a payment was not made, and that they would wire $5,000 within hours.
A few minutes later Jason called me. I informed him that I was reporting this to the FBI (which I am doing) and that he'd better start running. The number on my caller ID was 347-5622648. When I called back on this number the message was that I had dialed an invalid code.
They've probably hidden behind layer and layer of phony addresses, e-mails, and phone numbers, which can't be traced. Glad they didn't answer the phone when I was at the Western Union office.
