I bought the 1999 cougar. It was the first year it came back from being redesigned. I saw the car and test drove it. I basically knew I loved the car.

Now that the car is 4 years old, a bunch has gone wrong with it. You think a 4 year old cougar with only 38,000 miles on it would do a tad better. Nope! And from talking with other 99 cougar buyers, I'm not the only one. The main problem I have had as well as others, is the alternator. The time I took my cougar in, there were 3 other cougars at the same dealer with the same problem!

You think there might have been a recall or something, when so many cougars have the same problem. Nope! I had to fork over the entire fee! A couple of months after fixing that, I have also replaced 2 barrings, the air intake filter, and numerous sensors. I love the car, but not the money I'm having to fork into it. At the rate I am going, I doubt I'd buy another Mercury.
